Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

How was the experience for everyone? I took the Jun 27th test today and we had system overload issues so they gave us an extra 30 mins. Questions are similar to what was discussed on this thread  Good Luck everyone!

@BrwnBoy0302 was it a full 3-hour exam? And what measures did they take to prevent cheating?

It was actually 2 hours but we got an extra 30 minutes because of system overload. There weren’t any anti-cheating software (like lockdown browser and stuff) but I’m not exactly how the Columbia Canvas system works so they might have something in the system but I’m not sure tho

@tyunyun so was it shortened time on all sections (and presumably less questions) or did they cut out an entire section?

@BrwnBoy0302 How was the challenge math section, how tough was it? I’m worried about that the most. Do we take the science section first and the math section after (what’s the order)?

@Rachmaninoff23 For us it was 2.5 hours for 100 questions. The specific sections weren’t cut and you could go at your own pace

@tyunyun How many challenge math questions were there?

To add on to that, how many questions per section?

40 math questions, 40 sci questions, 10 challenge math

sorry 50 sci questions

.

.

Y’all stop stressing. As this thread has said countless times, you really cannot prepare for the science questions. The easy math is just that… easy. And you can do AMC 8/10 problems to prep for the challenge questions.

Nothing has changed. The test is online, thats it! Also, I’m pretty sure canvas has anti-cheating logs built in.

yeah i honestly think they have how many times someone exits the tab or something

Pretty sure they can’t do that without user consent – did you give it to them? Wasn’t sure how the test works this year.

I guess now I pray I did okay enough to get in

Same, I think I got 1-2 basic math questions wrong, 4-5 science questions wrong and 2-3 challenge math questions wrong. I hope that’s good enough to get in, but I doubt it.

@Hotpockets1202 hope you did well. How difficult would you say each section was?

I’m thinking I did pretty good on both math sections but I think I got at least 10 wrong from science ;-; I don’t know any physics (except F=ma lol), and don’t remember bio/earth science/chem. At least there was no wrong answer penalty this year, so maybe I got lucky a few times. Fingers crossed!
