@sn1124 i think a 7/8 would be the minimum correct amount of answers that would cut it, but only Columbia would know for sure
I have heard that transcripts might count a little but all recommendations are look the same so…
I’ve also heard that the essay doesn’t count for anything. I meant do they have an official release date?
Yea, the exam definitely counts the most out of anything. Probably in August they’ll release results
did anyone get the challenge math question about the triangle with angles 45 and 30 and a side of 8?
Yes, 4 rad 2, law of sines
@jkotl0327 thanks i think thats the only one i got wrong haha i hope you got in!!!
what did you guys get for the question with the sheep? i’m pretty sure i got 7%. and there was also a question about biology and respiration and ik one of the answers was “difference between polished and unpolished rice” and “it shows the energy [something] between rice and wheat” or something along those lines.
Hey smiley fox, pretty sure 7% is right. Idk about the biology and respiration one.
oh ok, got it. how about the coin exchange question, where A, B, C all ended with 16 coins? i got 28
yup that’s right
Don’t recall a coin question
Did anyone else have a question about an ammeter and you had to find the number of volts or smth? I never took physics so I cant tell if I got it right or not
You weren’t suppose to find the number of volts. You were suppose to pick the assumption when hooking up an ammeter to a circuit. The answer was that you were assuming that the resistance between the connecting wires is zero. If you want to learn why that is, then you can watch the khan academy video on ammeters and voltmeters.
Also, the answer to the polished rice question was that rice would germinate faster in a flooded field because the oxygen cannot reach the seed and rice uses more hexoses in anerobic respiration than wheat. In all the other choices, you cannot deduce their respective explanations.
I got 7% too for the sheep problem.
@AryanG yea i chose that it was insignificant
I agree with @AryanG on voltmeter/ammeter, I had a rice vs wheat question, nothing to do with polished rice though I think, it was something to do with anaerobic vs aerobic respiration but I don’t really remember.
Wait so what did you put as a choice for that question about volts?
@baadshah7777777 was it about a variable resistor and a graph accompanied it?
does anyone know if they factor grade level into admissions? like would they be more likely to admit a rising sophomore over a rising senior if they scored the same on the entrance exam? also are there like quotas for each grade (i.e. they are looking for exactly 100 sophomores, 100 juniors, etc. for example)? thx
@ced0307 I’ve heard from others (and read farther back on this forum) that there is a very large curve for incoming sophomores, a smaller curve for juniors, and no curve for seniors.
