Columbia University Science Honors Program ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

Yo, any of you guys see that one kid who was like freaking everywhere, touching people O_o.

^Yeah I did

in room 310? fayerweather?

@masterofpuppets

yeah im a junior. Only one shot at this program :\ wish i found out about it last year

50/50, 45/75, 13/15. Are these stats enough to get in??

@masterofpuppets
…probably

Everybody’s saying how getting 10+ is good… but 45/75 is just terrible and older posts have said how they did bad on the challenge but did well on the science and got in… :

wait.. how do you know you got 45/75?

Honestly, I felt AIME 1 and 2 were of equal difficulty…plus AIME 2ers are generally “smarter” according to stats.

LOL the challenge math section was nothing like the AIME…

yeah really, AIME is on a whole different level than the “challenge” math lmao >_>
@chachacha i THINK i got 45/75 because i only answered 55/75 and probably got 10 wrong :

is 11 bad for the challenge?

most people here are getting 11+ on the challenge math but honestly, when I asked the kids who took the test, most didn’t even get 10 right.

did everyoen really think science was that bad? i prob omitted 5 questions… maybe like 10 wrong. everyone is saying 45/75…

meh, i never took physics or earth science so i omitted all questions based on those. i only took bio in 8th grade so i forgot most of that stuff. i wonder if 45/75 is bad compared to people NOT on college confidential >_<

OMGOMG Everyone i just realized we may have all gotten the cube question wrong… did everyone put 488???

yeah i put 488, is that wrong?
and i know… i totally flunked the science part- as far as i know, 45/75 isnt all that bad haha

yes, 488 is definitely the correct answer. do 10^3- 8^3 and u get 488. 8^3 is the number of cubes that are NOT painted thus subtracting that number from the total will give you the number of cubes that have at least 1 side painted.

yeah, thats what i thought- im almost 100 percent sure that 488 is the right answer…
does anyone remember the question whose answer was 10a/r or something like that?

wait did the question ask for the number of cubes that WERE painted atleast on one side or the number of cubes that WERENT painted. cuz in another thread someone wrote that the question asked for the number of cubes that werent painted
