i answered the ones i knew id get 100% right which was… 50/50, 67/75 and 14/20.

did you guys get -1 for the “i” 1/(x^2+x) one? and pi for the circle and |x| function? and 28 for the cents? and 2.5 for mi for third and second in the race?

and last question on the easy math section, it was like a parallelogram and height was 2, base was 10 and side base was 4… it was just 2x10 right…?

wait i think i was wrong for the -4 0 4 one, not sure tho

btw i didnt get 6 for that one either i got 864 cuz they were in diff units i think

anonymousx37 yeah i think i got -1 for that one, for the cirlce one i forget the exact answer but i was just 1/4 the area of the circle, i also got 2.5 for that race one, i also feel like i got 28 cents for one of them but cant remember the question

I got 28 cents for that question, and 864 for the cube one (because there were different units, there were both inches and feet).

was the 864 one challenge or easy math? idr

CCers,

As a sophomore, I think I scored 60-63/75 science questions correctly, 49/50 easy math (darn R and E problem), and 16/20 challenge math. In your honest opinions, will i get in? Thank you and have a nice day.

Oftheking

I got pretty much the exact same score as the above person, and also as a sophomore.
I hope I get in @@.

What did you guys get for the probability of choosing a perfect square, and also the sheep overall profit one?

Probability of choosing perfect square, I got .08. Reason being you have 3/43/50 of a chance of choosing 64, 81, and 100 and a 1/47/50 chance of choosing 1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 36, 49. Thus, you answer is 16/200 = 8/100 = .08.

Sheep one was: (x+49*(x/700))/(x) = 107/100 –> 7/100 = 7.0 percent.

i agree with @Oftheking an also i just found out the highest i could get is 19 now QQ… which were he ones u guys couldnt get ?

Hi guys. I’m a freshman. I think I got: 70/75 in science, 45/50 in normal math, and 10/20 in challenge math. What are my chances?

Pretty darn slim I would say. Since challenge math is most of the points

Easy math: ~50
Science: 65+
Challenge: 16 or 17

how did you do the first place is two miles ahead of second and four miles ahead third place question? And the question about the cube with the different units? These were the only two I didn’t get, along with one I figured out while driving home -_-

And do u think it’s the best idea to post the answers here? I don’t know if Columbia will change the test next year…

I got 7x for the first question.. For the triangle one with the 12 unit sides I got the answer square root of 63 ( pretty sure that’s right) for the A B C race question I got 2.5 , and for the A B C cents question I got 28 for A, 16 for B, and 4 for C.. But 28 was the answer, for the 4 kids with the $60 boat, I got $20, $15, 13$ and $12.. I believe $12 was the answer… For the complex number question the answer was x = 2

Oh, and if anyone had any doubts about the bug problem, here’s the solution.

You need to find the x and y values separately using the formula for infinite geometric series.

So for the x values notice that it is x = 1-(1/4)+(1/16)-(1/64)+(1/256)… = 1-(3/16)-(2/256)… = 1-((3/16)/(1-(1/16))) = 1-(3/15) = 4/5

For the y value, y = (1/2)-(1/8)+(1/32)-(1/128)+(1/512)… = (1/2)-(3/32)-(3/512)… = (1/2)-((3/32)/(1-(1/16))) = (1/2) - (163)/(3215) = (1/2)-(1/10) = 4/10 = 2/5

So the point it gets close to is (4/5, 2/5).

I can confirm 7x, square root of 63, 28, 13 (I believe it was 13, not 12), -1 (with i), [-4,0,4], 25 (898), 0.08, and 7%

@pvenigal
Pretty darn sure the 4th kid paid $13…or did I screw up D:
And I got -2/2 = -1 for the imaginary

@oftheking

Lol I just drew the thing on a gigantic graph and deduced that the x coordinate had to be greater than 3/4, so the answer was (4/5, 2/5)

Yea silveraurora , might be right with 13… I forgot what the answer I put but I remember that I got the values 20, 15, 13&12 I forgot if it was 13 or 12 that I chose
