I received no letter today and I am a rising sophomore. It is quite likely that all the rejections were sent out earlier and the acceptances are being sent in batches based on some factor besides grade (my neighbor is also a rising sophomore and he received his acceptance today). It could be based on something as arbitrary as last name.

that is reassuring, yea i guess people have been getting acceptances later? but what could be another factor other than grade/or area

does anyones last name start with s or after?

who got an acceptance letter today i mean

my last name starts with z
and it could just be random

how about those who got rejection letters? do any of your last names start with S or after?

It appears that people with names in the latter half of the alphabet are getting letters first. My last name begins with a K and a friend’s last name begins with a G; neither of us have received letters yet.

my last name starts with an S and i havent gotten anything!!

I live about 30 minutes from columbia I didn’t get an acceptation letter. I doubt I got in since i didn’t do good on the math sections. But i didn’t get a rejection letter yet so is that a good sign or meaningless?

Things I got in the mail today:
- An advertisement for a paper shredder
- A magazine about birds (we don’t own a bird at all)
- A menu for a strange Chinese restaurant
… and NO LETTER. Going by the above comments (and the fact my last name is near the end of the alphabet) I’m hoping it will get here either tomorrow or Monday. Aargh.

@jeffisaboss Honestly, nobody on this thread knows anything more than the next person. We’ve definitely seen a trend of acceptances/rejections but that could also be a bizarrely strange coincidence. The letters received today seem to be all acceptances, and the letters earlier in the week were all rejections… so maybe? I know, I know… but you’ll know soon enough so KEEP YOUR FAITH (and have some chocolate to tide you over)

@mathnerd158 neither have I, and my last name starts with “S” too. I’m assuming our letters arrive sometime between tomorrow and Monday afternoon :)

Lol @ the nervous people. Also, the rejection first theory can’t be true, since I have yet to receive anything and I totally bombed the test.

well it might be based on your building you took the exam so yeah

just got acceptance today
am a rising junior
for all those who didn’t get letter, i still believe the acceptances are the last to go out; hang in there.
has the thread started yet for course selection?

we could just use this one

Got accepted
I had perfect or almost perfect on the easy math, ~65 on the science section, and 19/20 for the challenge math.
Rising junior and my last name begins with a Z.

EDIT:
Can someone who has been in this program before recommend any courses or share their experiences? Right now, I’m interested in the “From Nanoscience to Nanotechnology” course.

Got in. Got the letter this morning. Congrats to everyone. :)

damn gratz, you get mail mad early, where do you live?
