@Koreanjesus62 Nope! I applied as a high school senior for Columbia Engineering and got rejected, but applied as a transfer the next year and got in!

HS GPA: 4.4 weighted, 3.91 unweighted
College GPA: 4.0
SAT: 1550
Major: Financial Economics and Philosophy
Essays: 10/10, elaborated thoroughly on why I wanted to transfer and what Columbia could do for me. Discussed NYC area in moderate detail.
Recs: Excellent. Both professors felt very fondly of my work ethic and academic performance.
ECs: D3 athletics, investment club, college mentor, newspaper, church volunteer, and founded (and sold) two startups.
Tbh, don’t know what else I could have possibly done.

Your stats (especially college EC’s and HS GPA) are better than mine and I was waitlisted. I’m also a white male. Perhaps applying as a Financial Econ major hurt you (they already have plenty of econ kids).

Accepted!!! Daughter is a freshman transfer. She literally cried watching the video that ended with “Congratulations”. She will definitely go to Columbia.

@FlashyT If you can get in and able to afford it, apply. You have the same opportunities as a GS student, except for much less financial aid.
ahhh! are there any resources/guides for expected transfer students? got in, but want to be sure i won’t regret transferring you know?
