Guys, did you read the application portal? Columbia will release Waitlist decisions NO EARLY than May 15 and NO LATER than June 30. They have us the deadlines, there’s no point waiting for it now
They have the word “typically” in there. This year is an anomaly. Some schools that don’t usually use their waitlists, like Princeton, are using them this year.
I asked the admissions officer, she said that if they will, it will be later in May, not now
They say that every year as a benchmark, but they’ve contacted people earlier than that in the past usually on the 2nd Friday of May
In light of that, do we think the info that people were accepted on Reddit is false?
There’s wasn’t a single person on Reddit that said they or their friends got off the waitlist this year. It actually sounds that it happened in the previous years
There was only one person who said he/she knew of multiple people who got accepted from the waitlist this year. Seems a little sus… and how would someone know multiple people who were accepted from the waitlist?
05/08 will be a big day for first wave of Columbia - if we go according to prior year timelines.

relative to past years, yes, especially due to columbia being in the epicenter of covid and uncertainty over international yield

hello! i’m not sure what time, but likely during their office hours. they should definitely contact by email, but i’d keep my phone by me just in case 
from looking at forums for waitlist movement in the last three years, Columbia typically has two big waves - one that would be this friday & another next friday. any movement after that is usually just a few people to fill any extra holes in the class (with covid that might be different this year). also, another consistency is that they usually send an email to those who get off the waitlist at approximately 5:30 pm est.
keep in mind that this is relative to the past three years! this year is clearly different so who knows how it may affect the waitlist

I’d go for Columbia, but I’d be more than happy with either school!
