Hey guys, I have some info that I thought might be helpful to share - Columbia explicitly told transfer applicants that they will release transfer decisions at 5 PM EST on Friday (May 8th). I don’t know if this will have any correlation with waitlist decision times, but I thought you guys should know to keep an eye out just in case.
is it just me or does it seem like columbia waitlisted everyone? I heard that they usually waitlist very few people and take a lot of those people off the waitlist but every other person who posted a decision video on youtube got waitlisted.
Sometimes schools change their policies for waitlists. Barnard and CMU have become need-aware. Because of the uncertainty surrounding covid-19, it’s not out of the picture that Columbia might accept full-paying students first. That is my non-expert judgment and I may be way off.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my college counselor emailed Columbia and they said that they won’t officially release their waitlist, but they won’t be making any offers in the near future.
hmm…that doesn’t seem right though. they haven’t made many offers yet. i’m gonna take a break from this thread for a few days lmao, it’s making me so nervous.
Columbia class of 2023 had about 2247 students. The official Columbia class of 2024 Group in FB has only 1687 members, of which 10 are admins. So 1677. Assuming that they are all freshman, that number is far behind the 2247. They have at least 500 open spots to fill. I think a wave is coming. Stay hopeful everyone.
