Ok. Thanks. I guess I’ve been spoiled by being able to walk forever in walking shoes.
You can walk forever in those Lily Moons. They are my hiking shoes for HI.
For walking shoes to wear on vacations and at other times involving a great deal of walking, I’ve always liked Rockports, which are extremely comfortable (and are available in wide sizes). Plus, the men’s and women’s versions are basically identical, so I was able to keep my old pairs from “before.” It would have been a shame to feel like I had to get rid of them.
Just picked up some Rockport ballet flats at TJMaxx yesterday for $15! I think they will be comfy, but I have kind of a mini-bunion and will need to wear them around the house for a while to be sure.
If you want a really funky shoe that looks like you can’t make a couple of steps in it yet is unbelievably walkable…

Once I walked 3 miles in these sandals with no problems. And yes, they look good with dresses. And no, I did not pay that much for my pair.
I agree that Cobb Hill shoes are extreme comfortable. You should be able to find some that would go with dresses.
HImom:
There are three brands that I could recommend to you for dresses that are not expensive:
J Renee
Ros Hommerson
Trotters
They all have comfortable shoes for dresses that have low heels and are stylish. See if you can find any stores that sell these brands near you. Remember…try them on toward the end of the day rather than the morning!
I have a feeling that HIMom is looking for something dressier than what we recommended so far!
Possibly, something like this (Chiara is an awesome sandal, BTW), but cheaper:

Nina makes quite nice and not very expensive formal sandals and shoes. Also Suart Weizmann.
These shoes are amazing. I love them with pants or dresses. And they are tevas.

I like Everybody and Pikolinos for dressy sandals-heels. You can walk or dance all night!
Is it just me or do others get the sensation of burning on the sole of their feet when wearing sandals or dress shoes without stockings? That has happened to me when wearing a variety of shoes from different manufacturers. Not sure if its just friction or some sensitivity to whatever is on the footbed of the shoe.
Its especially bad when walking for a length of time and distance. I don’t have that problem when I wear Thorlo socks and walking shoes or any socks and athletic shoes.
Never had that issue, HIMom. Maybe because I like to buy leather-lined shoes?
Maybe the leather lining will help. I’m open to suggestions but find the burning awful!
I experience burning at times, but it’s usually when I wear socks. It’s most evident in the fall when I first start wearing socks again. It’s seems to be related to my ongoing issues with plantar fasciitis.
I love these threads to see how the other half lives! I own two pairs of New Balance walking shoes, a pair of Clarks black flats, a pair of brown off brand flats and a pair of off brand sandals.
I’m grateful NOT to have plantar fasciitis, but find the burning VERY uncomfortable and disconcerting. Would like to avoid burning soles in my next footwear purchase. (No, never have this issue when wearing any socks.)
I have 3 black pairs of walking shoes, one white pair of athletic shoes that are literally falling apart, and a few dressier shoes, several of which need to be replaced. Have just donated my one pair on sandals.
Maybe I will ask about all leather insoles, if that might solve the burning problem. I only wear dressier footwear sans stockings.
Try Clarks or Alegria. I find those brands very comfy and they have some cute styles as well
Ok. Will give them a try. There is a Clark’s store at the mall. Will see what they have. Dang–come to think of it, I think their synthetic insoles are some of those who make my feet burn when wearing without socks or stockings.
Oh, I’m not the other half at all! Until I lost weight I had 2 pair of “dress clogs” in brown and black, 2 pair of Sketchers sneakers, and a pair of Merrell clogs. I just tossed my old sandals as they wore out after 5 or 6 years of constant summer wear. I’ve never paid full price for any of them. Now that my feet have shrunk I have only the Merrells that fit. My sneaks I’m biding time with thick socks but I’m pretty much stuck.
HImom-I have been getting some burning trying to wear my shoes that no longer fit properly. Maybe you need to have your feet measured again? Is it possible you’re in need of a size change?
No, have noticed this problem for years–it’s fine when I wear socks but burns awfully when wearing for a prolonged period without socks. It’s been like this for many, many years and my feet have been a 9 for nearly all of those years. It feels like a chemical reaction between the sole of my foot and the insole, if that makes any sense.
