I think this is great. It definitely shows course rigor and that you like to challenge yourself, which colleges love to see. As far as extracurriculars go I think you chose great activites (thats my personal opinion as I do Cross Country too lol), and theres not too many to the point where you won’t be able to commit a reasonable amount of time to each. Your plan is really good!!!
Thanks, I’ve thought about it multiple times and changed it a bunch and this is what I’ve come up with. I’d really love to attend the Naval Academy (lifetime goal) because I have a big Navy family, and plus it’s no tuition (I basically get thousands of dollars just for working extremely hard). I also love to challenge myself and personally, I believe if I don’t take the toughest course that will challenge me, but not be too much, then it will be a waste of time. I love to get as much everyday information as I can (I wanna be the guy who just knows exactly what you’re talking about on literally everything). And I love cross country, what’s your best 5k time?
The Naval Academy would be lucky to have you!! Yea, Cross Country is awesome, I was a track guy for a minute but I found that I liked XC better. My best time is 19:12 but I’d like to break that 19 minute mark this season and hopefully get a good spot on varsity, instead of an alternate for someone already on varsity. What’s yours?
It is strange that you are not taking a math course as a senior and that you are starting your language sophomore year; at most schools it is started in middle school. I would take AP Bio over AP Environmental Science. Be sure to keep up-to-date with studying whichever AP social studies is first semester because you will have about a four month gap between when you take the local “mid-term / final” given in late January and the AP exam given in early May. I am assuming that you are taking AP Physics 1 senior year because you will not be prepared to take C or 2.
Good luck.
@CacciatoreDeco To get on varsity at my school you have to beat 20:30, which my best is 18:44. Last year there were 7 on varsity and around 20 on JV. I really wanna get to the 17 minute mark some day.
@kimclan1 I am taking Honors Calculus my senior year. I am pretty sure I will take AP Bio over AP Environment. And it is AP Physics 1. With the languages, I have to have 3 years of a foreign language to go to a 4 year university, and they told me last year I couldn’t, but I found out my friends did and was TICKED. I’m thinking about French 1 next year, then maybe French 2 over the summer somewhere, and that way take French 3 Honors at school my junior year.
@ryanalexander116 My school has a requirement of 18:xx:xx to get on varsity but it is loosely followed. Are teams are kinda of similar with the whole 7 varsity thing, but for us there are like 5 extra people who get to be on varsity from time to time, if the course allows for more. Good luck on that 17 minute goal
Thanks. That’s a little strange about the 18 minute requirement cause ours is 20:30, even though I have a bunch of friends on JV who have finished between 30 and 40 minutes, which I don’t like.
