I’m having an issue with using my laptop; getting a constant message to update Flash Player Pro with Optimum Installer. Is this legit? I’m worried I’m going to download a virus. I can’t access Google at all.

I went to the Adobe site and checked my Flash Player download. I do have the current version and so don’t need to update. I get the message every time I try to access Google and now my husband is also getting the message. Is anyone else having trouble with Google?

Optimum Installer is malware–technically it’s adware. Can you try a search with yahoo? There are quite a few directions out there to delete it? If you have security software you might run that. (Mac user here-I don’t recall the common security software for PCs)

I’ve had great luck removing malware using malwarebytes (get the free version at malwarebytes.org). Download and install it and let it run updates. Then restart in safe mode and run it and let it remove what it finds. Reboot normally and scan with malwarebytes again. Hopefully that will do the trick. If a webpage prompts to update Adobe, never update from the webpage; rather, head over to adobe.com to download and install it from there. I also have my Adobe products setup to update automatically. Also, if you have a Facebook account, never click links that are emailed to you from Facebook - I’ve seen a few that were bogus. It’s better just to open Facebook and access the link directly. It’s the wild west out there!
