Computer Science

I will major in computer science at a CC, and now I would like to know what subject on which I have to focus? What subjects do I have to study when I major in Computer Science?

As a computer science major at a CC, you would study computer science and possibly other areas like math, physics or art. Within computer science there are several different tracks you could go, depending on what your goal is: do you want to make computer animations? Be a network administrator? A software engineer? Design websites? Work with robots? Your program of study would also depend on whether you want to get a certificate in an area of computer science, or an Associate’s degree that allows you to transfer to a four-year university. A certificate usually involves a number of classes focused on your specific area of interest, while an Associate’s degree requires a full year’s worth of general education classes (history, literature etc) in addition to a more general selection of major-specific classes.
