Confused Australian

Hi everyone! I’m from Australia and have no idea how the scholarship system works over in Anerica, especially iin terms of doing an undergrad in cinema and media studies! Thanks x (ps, what are SATS and GPAS??)

SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test (standardized test on multiple subjects taken by many U.S. high school students)

GPA = Grade Point Average

First suggestion: you obviously have internet access. You could have easily used it to find the above definitions. You should use Google or any other useful search engine and do some basic research. Then come back here with your new knowledge and ask away with any specific questions. I’m sorry if this sounds harsh, but anyone who wants to be a successful student in the U.S. higher education system should not expect to be spoon fed. However, this may help you:

You’re welcome.

When you are looking up financial aid and scholarships, pay attention to the requirements, especially any citizenship requirements. Many american students take out student loans for college, but unless you are a citizen or permanent resident, you won’t be eligible. Many grants and scholarships require citizenship. Jobs? citizenship (or status to work).

To get help with this process, contact the EducationUSA office closest to where you live. There are three in Australia: https://educationusa.state.gov/find-advising-center?field_region_target_id=&field_country_target_id=284&field_center_level_value=All The counselors there will have good ideas for you.

I agree with @happymomof1 …contact EducationUSA! They will be able to help you out.
