Any swedes here who knows how to convert your grades to GPA? If there is anyone who goes to college can you please tell me your swedish grades from high school and what GPA they were converted to? Thanks!

I found this on the Internet…

http://www.wes.org/gradeconversionguide/sweden.htm

I hope this helps.

yeah WES shud do the job…

yeah I have seen that conversionguide as well. but it doesn’t convert the swedish grades to GPA so it would be nice if you guys have something else to come up with…

How is the grading in Sweden?

Jonathan1, the grading in Sweden is like this:
MVG ( pass with special distinction) - highest grade and worth 20.
VG ( pass with distinction) worth 15
G (pass) worth 10
IG (fail) worth 0

So MVG is like an A, VG a B and G a C.

And faze, as it says on that site “The grading scale used in Sweden does not lend itself to a U.S. grading scale equivalency.” The grading system in US is very different, they have the unweighted and weighted-blaha and there’s the + and -thing and the grades are worth different in different schools. But if you go after that MVG is an A and so on it would be like 20 = 4.0, 15 = 3.0 and 10 = 2.0. Anyway, as long as you have over 15 you’ll probably get in to a good university but if you want to get in to a top school you have to have mostly of the highest grade, over 18 or something like that.

Lulea! Im not sure that an MVG corresponds to an A and VG to a B an so on. Because if you look at the conversionguide above you can see that France seems to have a similar 20point-system as we have in Sweden. And according to this table you can see that a VG should be like an A. And an A gives you a GPA of 4.0 if Im not wrong. All this is very confusing as you can see =) so please state your own opinion and tell me what you think.

you shouldn’t waste a thought on converting your swedish grades to GPA. let the adcom see a copy of your transcript. it’s their job. moreover, the level of difficulty in school system terms is not comparable.

When I applied I didn’t convert at all. Simply explain what the grades stand for, and you’ll be fine.

snipanlol, what grades did you have? i have 16.35 out of 20 and im applying for san diego state, what do you think of my chanses?

I haven’t got a clue. I am completely unfamiliar with that school and their policies, but generally a lot of other things matter as well, apart from your grades.
