Cornell 2014 ED-ers!

haha its fine. I think we are all just nervous. and waiting is quite tedious.

Thanks Lania for the information. I just planning on going to the Cornell admissions event in NYC also, but couldn’t attend. D-Day the 12th. SIGH>>>.

it’s probably too late for this but:
is there an advantage in getting in your app early? :[
I sorta have the impression that there is… darn I shouldn’t have waited til’ the last minute haha

Awwww I remember this stuff! I applied ED last year (and got accepted). I remember collegeconfidential scared the CRAP out of me because it seemed like everyone was way more qualified. Anyway, good luck guys! Let me know if you have questions!

The weird part is that Cornell stated they will still accept October ACT scores before making the decision. They are technically contradicting themselves now… Oh well. Deferral here I come!

yes ilovefhf…I think if math is your major of choice and your SATII in math is high and your academics in math have been high all four years of your high school career then they would see that as a good “fit”.

sorry for all the questions im just really scared cos none of my ecs are maths related…

luckyme153…Yes! Alot of us were freaked out at the workshop because there were people there who got 800 on all their SAT II’s and had 4.0 gpas, were Intel Finalist, and on the Robotics team, I mean really outstanding kids but the counselor went out of his way to make sure that we all understood just because you may not have those kind of credentials dosen’t mean you won’t be looked at by Cornell, its about more than just test scores and to not to be discouraged from applying because of test scores. In fact he said if he sees a great GPA but a not so great SAT score he chalks that up to the person being a bad test taker and in that case the GPA would hold more weight than the SAT score, he also said not to score choice, they require you send all your SAT scores to them and they will take the highest section scores from each test you may have taken.

This makes me want to cry :(. I’m feeling confident about my upcoming November sat score as opposed to the one I received when I took it in March. If it’s true, then my deferral is just sitting there, waiting until Dec. 12th. ■■■ D’=

ILUxpssh…i’m confused if you applied ED you knew your Nov Sat scores would not make it in time for the Nov 1 cut off for ED…also i’m curious why didnt you take the June, August or Sept SATs if you felt the March scores were not your best?

Oh gosh. I took the October SAT’s and waited until the scores came out TWO DAYS before the deadline to submit. I hope waiting for the last minute to submit doesn’t affect whether or not I get in =\

I’m freaking out now. I applied with the intended major of Physics, but my math and physics SAT scores weren’t as good as my social-science SAT II’s and my CR + writing SAT’s… but I feel as if my essay’s were well written, and my extracurriculars good… and my GPA’s a 5.3 but… that’s probably not good enough either.

-sigh- =[

did any of you get a “likely” email, i just got one this morning.

don’t they only send those out for sports…?

^i don’t know, i was kidding. I thought they send those out early so kids so stress too much.

Shuaishaui your statement made me check my email. I got an email too from Cornell…for an interview :O. So nervous.

going2college: where you from? new york? I’m disappointed that i didn’t get an interview.

Same here T_T But I guess there probably aren’t as many Cornell alum’s in Florida as there are in NY.

lania10, Cornell recommends that we finish our testing by October. They accept November scores but do not guarantee that the scores will be on time before a decision is made. Sometimes the schools are so backlogged with the influx of application materials sent in (and the filing process) that the admissions committee does not start reviewing until 2-3 weeks after the due date. Granted, that’s what an associate admissions director told me when I went to one of their DOPs. You may be right though, lania10.

I took my SAT IIs in June and retook one of my SAT IIs in October. The SAT is not administered during August or September.

shuai, not cool.

Yes exactly ILUxpssh, if the counselor “recommends” getting in scores prior to the Nov 1 cut off you better believe that is the best thing you can do especially since you are up against thousands of applicants who have their best scores in before that time. You didnt mention taking the June SAT, so between the March and the June SAT if u still think u need the Nov scores to gain a positive admission decision maybe u should withdraw from ED and go RD so u can be sure that your best scores are in as well as your senior grades which may be better as well? Just a thought. Might be a more strategic move in your case.
