Cornell asking for verification worksheet...

Is this an indication of a possible acceptance?

Is this an indication of a possible acceptance?

It is a widely recognized fact that Cornell's financial aid office and admission office are separate. On there it asks you to fill in "Cornell ID". You should call Cornell for that ID.

It's unfortunate that this thread doesn't have an appropriate title:

Verification Worksheet Paranoia Solved lol

Thanks, post #24 on the thread answered my question:

I called financial aid (again) and asked a general question: "If selected for verification do I do it now or only after being accepted?" She said you only have to do it after acceptance. Then I asked about it appearing on the "to do" list and she said they just put it on there so it is set to go if she is accepted.

Apparently the answer to my question is 'no.'

Turns out I did get accepted to Cornell. :)

mhmm. Right.

Cornell asking me for a verification wksht probably wasn't an indication of my acceptance - whether you believe I was accepted or not - but I was accepted nonetheless. If believing I haven't been accepted is some sort of rationalization, than by all means go ahead.

My question is, is the deadline for the verification worksheet supposed to be 02/15/2010? Because that's what mine says and 2010 seems a ways away. :

Mine says Feb 2010 too; it's most likely a mistake and should be 02/15/2009.

LW Trojan-

Did you get a likely letter from Cornell?

What school did you apply to in Cornell?

Congragulations on your acceptance.

Thanks. I applied to ILR as my primary college and to CAS as a secondary college. I got an invite in the mail to DHW (Diversity Hosting Weekend). I thought it was odd that Cornell was offering to fly me from Florida to New York for the event, but when I contacted the admissions office, they said it was only for accepted minority students.

Awesome, will you be attending ILR/CAS?

Most likely ILR: I want to be a lawyer.

Congrats LW! On my To do list it lists : CSS profile, freshmen aid app, and parent prior year federal tax. I submitted these awhile back and met the deadlines. Should I be worried?

Question, again: What does it mean if at first you were asked for a verification letter, then it was removed? (The spot on the "To-Do List", that is.) I DID send in a verification sheet, so that could be it, but I'm worried that it means they just remove it for all the rejected applicants. Thoughts?

this verification sheet requires a transcript from the IRS. I'm still waiting to get that to send it in. it would suck going through all this trouble for nothing.

Really? For my verif. sheet, I just d/led one, filled it out and sent it in.

its this one ;/a>
on the last 2 pages it gives info about requesting a transcript

So if the "to do" list has the request for verification and the 2010 date does that mean that it doesn't have to be done unless you are accepted? I believe this is part of the paper work that needs to be done if you were randomly selected for verification after submitting your FAFSA - other schools should be asking for verification forms as well. However, this is the first request I have had for an IRS transcript, all the others asked for copies of tax returns (if they didn't use IDOC). I just saw this "to do" last night after talking with fin aid on 2/18 when they said everything for fin aid was in! I think I'll do it now and hope for acceptance and have all paper work in and ready for a fin aid package.

So is it a bad sign if they aren't requesting it?
