Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

@ArthurDent42 Did you get “Your materials have been received. Your application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review,” on the Cornell Application Status page (Application Materials for Freshman Applicants)?

@seniorlife555 No. They must have gotten everything they need from you, including test scores. They haven’t gotten my test scores yet, so that’s probably why I haven’t seen that message. For me, it still shows checked and unchecked rows on the list of materials.

@c0rnell In my Self-Service Cornell Application it said that they had received my Common App but not my Writing Supplement, so I emailed them asking if they have received it and it is still being processed or if it is missing. They replied saying they had technical issues and that they will update it within 24 hours. So don’t worry.

Also, did anyone here apply AAP Architecture for ED other than @arulster ?

I have an account but where am I supposed to see the list of all the stuff?

In Check Application Status I am just getting an error “An application fee, or approved fee waiver, is required. At this time, our records indicate that we have not received your application fee, or fee waiver.” Which btw is wrong. It was not corrected after database update too.

In a webinar by Cornell ILR director of admissions for guidance counselors, she indicated that ED deadline was postponed till Nov 8 due to bad weather and SAT score delays.

Damn

@c0rnell That was in October 2013 for hurricane Sandy. Applications were due Nov 1.

@c0rnell Where did you find that link?

They got all of my app materials. yay

@Gatortristan Did they get your September ACT scores, too?

More than 2 years ago, I sent my TOEFL score to Cornell which now says it has received my TOEFL score. However, I didn’t send any other valid TOEFL scores because I think I could waive it with my SAT CR section score which is higher than 670. So is Cornell going to consider the TOEFL score I sent? If not, would my TOEFL score still be considered as waived?

@seniorlife555 Yes, they got my sept scores sadly. ACT said they cancelled the report to them but it went through anyways no worries though. They didn’t get my october scores yet because they aren’t out.

They got all my app materials too, except the SAT but CB says they are sent so they will be there by tomorrow hopefully.

Who else is giving the SAT subject tests tomorrow btw?

As soon as October ACT scores are released, will they receive them on the 10th?

@FZM777 I completely bombed one of my two subject tests (I sent it because they say no score choice and I don’t want to chance it). So I’m taking a subject test tomorrow and hopefully it will arrive in time. If not oh well. Hopefully one hour of my life won’t ruin my entire application (one can hope). I know SATs are important but SAT IIs are less important.

“Your materials have been received. Your application has been forwarded to the admissions staff for review.”
When you get this message and cornell hasn’t received your most recent SAT score that contains your highest CR score by 50 points >>>

If you submit SAT and ACT, which do they look at? Both? Or the one that helps you out the most?

Are there other parents on this particular forum? I honestly don’t know who’s more anxious about waiting to here ED results, my husband and I or our son…these coming weeks are going to torture me, I’m not a very patient individual.

I am a parent here. It has been very difficult for me as well. My son does not allow me to see his applications and it makes me more worried.

Fortunately we have been able to look at our son’s application materials and offer advice and feedback. While he has applied to his second and third choice schools, Cornell, hands down is our sons #1 choice. He would be the first child in either of our families to attend an Ivy League school and he certainly has all the right credentials but as we learned at a recent CAS info session, they just don’t have enough “beds” for all the qualified students. Good luck to you and your son!

They still haven’t gotten my Oct 17th scores, which the college board sent on Nov 3rd…maybe next week?
