@penny47 Depends, I’m not because my backup school offers Early Action (basically Early Decision without binding), so I decided to just get college stuff out of the way by applying ED to Cornell and EA to my backup school (both with the same deadline). Kinda a lucky break for me. Even more convenient, all the scholarships that I wanted to apply to had a deadline of November 1st as well, so I had to apply for them at the same time I was applying to my two schools of choice. No more college applications or the like for me, hooray!!
Ehhh 15 is days to start RD applications if i don’t get in ED is good enough
@Gatortristan Can you apply RD if you’re denied ED? Aren’t you restricted only applying to RD after ED only if you get deferred?
At Cornell? If you’re denied then you’re done for that year and can’t apply RD. if you get deferred you don’t reapply up just get moved to the RD pool of applicants for a second look in which you may want to send more material to make you look like you need to go there. Cornell decision doesn’t affect your freedom to apply other places RD
Oooh I totally misunderstood…okay nvm…
I just got an email from an alumni talking about having a meeting woo
omg lucky. are you in anyofthecolleges that don’t require interviews?
@Gatortristan yeah I applied to CAS
@Tryharding and everyone else: While we’re on the subject, what emails from big name colleges has everyone gotten? I’ve gotten emails from all Ivies except Harvard, a lot from UChicago, and a couple from Duke. Of course they don’t really want me to apply as an applicant, they just want my application fee (think about it, each big name college gets about 30,000 applicants a year, each paying ~$80 in application fees, that’s a ton of cash per year, hence the emails).
yeah a lot of kids at my school take them too far and think that just because they get those emails that they’re auto in. i’ve gotten basic one’s from the same schools as u @ArthurDent42 all but yale but I’m def not getting into anyone of them lol. they make so much money off applications alone it’s ridiculous
but i like when UChicago sends me stuff. they sent me a large size map of their campus and just little stuff with my name on it etc … almost made me consider but then i came back to reality lol
@Gatortristan They literally sent me a thing saying, “Draw your big idea here!”, with a space to draw something, with a “Share your big idea on UChicago’s Twitter Page!” on the bottom…sometimes they go over board…I’ve even gotten a friggin poster with an overhead view of the campus that they suggested I “hang in my room”…talk about marketing strategy!!!
I applied to UChicago EA for the hell of it just because it’s not binding so I was like why not but my chances at getting in is like zero to none
I even heard they were sending out free shirts to people who asked. I emailed them but never got back to me lmao. It seems to be working for them at least. I keep getting emails from Cornell’s COE. i want nothing to do with engineering lol idk why they keep sending me those things. I’d much rather hear about HE
The only other schools I’m applying to are Dartmouth, UCLA, W&L, and NYU. i want to go to NYU so badly but i doubt it’ll happen…not trying to be dead and still paying off college loans.
@Gatortristan applying to dartmouth and ucla too, hope my in state status helps me with ucla lol
Oh i wish i had instate . tuition will murder me
@Gatortristan scholarships will be your best friend
Yeah I’ve gotten the same as you guys. I visited uchicago this summer cause I really liked it and as soon as I got on campus I hated it haha
@CornMine
My scores were sent on 4th too but nothing has shown up at all
So you are a bit lucky
