Guys, I’m starting to worry because I’m starting to notice some gaps in my Common App e.g. I left off some awards. . . I mean, it’s probably not a big deal, but looking at my app. I just feel unnerved. I emailed my counselor about it and she didn’t think it was a big deal as she mentioned that she discussed many of those accomplishments in her rec.

Anyways, I guess, my question is, is there anything I can do to rectify the situation e.g. send in a resume, email admissions, cry, etc.

Ugh, sorry for sounding super neurotic. I think college applications are getting to me. :frowning:

@NotAMathlete I know how you feel, I remembered some important things after I sent it and I was like welp

welp, just realized i had a typo on my resume that I sent them. whatever, I don’t think they even read those too closely anyway

@NotAMathlete Just try to forget you’ve applied to Cornell at all. I’m personally trying to destroy my expectations by creating a mindset within myself, in which I am convinced that I will be attending my backup school, with no other options. Sure it’s pessimistic, but getting your hopes up starting now to Dec ~15ish will only make it tougher on yourself, especially if things don’t go the way you want them. I do not want to be a nervous wreck if things go south mid Dec in terms of Cornell’s decision, so, again, my philosophy is to convince myself that Cornell doesn’t even exist, that I will be attending my backup school hands down, etc. I suggest you do the same. I’m not trying to be mean or anything, and I certainly don’t think you won’t get in, I just want to help you. I’ve seen so many cc threads of “[Insert Big Name School] ED/RD 20xx Results Only” where those who report that they were denied describe how they’ve become suicidal or self harming or psychologically unstable. It’s sad and it’s something I don’t want to happen to myself or anyone else on this thread. However, one can only prevent so much, so I’ll say it now: if any of you are so unsatisfied Dec ~15ish with Cornell’s decision, so much so that you begin suffering psychologically, PLEASE GET HELP!

That being said, to reinforce my personal mindset of, “I’m going to my backup school, not Cornell”, this will probably be the last time I’ll respond on this thread 'till I get my decision. See you all later, good luck with your senior year!

Also, please get the…

…format right. I’ve had to fix this list a couple times after people added their names without incrementing the #s in the ( )s, or done something else wrong. Sorry to be nitpicky, but I just wanted to tell you all that so it’s accurate! Alrighty, bye guys, good luck to you all! As the T-800 says, “I’ll be back!”

@ArthurDent42 Haha so I’m not the only one then. I’m trying to move on after Cornell to get my UC app done and RD schools too. Having the right mindset is important I think. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst

@ArthurDent42 Haha, yeah I honestly think that you have the right mindset. I’ll try to tell myself the same (bcs tbh I doubt I’ll get in). It’s just hard sometimes since Cornell has been my #1 for so many years now and I feel like I’ve convinced myself that ILR in particular is so unique that there is no other school like it. Haha, but yeah I am working on trying to maintain a healthier mindset regarding college apps. Hopefully I’ll get into some places I applied EA.

CoE is supposed to be competitive and only I am an applicant for it here.
Where is everybody? :stuck_out_tongue:

@FZM777 If you’re speaking geography wise I’m from upstate NY. (At this point I’m not too sure if that’s a good or bad thing)

@ArthurDent42 Thanks for the encouraging post
Glad to know that there are many of those who feel the same way as me right now…
I’m hoping to forget about the fact that I applied, and simply just move on!

Anyone here applying to AEM???

@ibandcollege I applied to AEM! No ones really talked about it in this thread so it’s nice to see another fellow applicant

@NotAMathlete

By CoE I meant College of Engineering. I am apparently the only one for it here (College Confidential not region wise) so I was wondering where everybody else was.

Though does your precise location matter? Isnt it like just national or international?

Oh and I was reading through last years ED thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1713310-offical-class-of-2019-ed-results-only-p4.html

Cornell seems to be very specific somehow. It does not care about your SATs that much (a 2400 was apparently deferred whereas even some 1900s got in with little ECs and stuff). Maybe they focus a lot on how great a fit you are in the university by analyzing all the parts or maybe there is another underlying factor but it pretty much removes any kind of predictability. What do you say?
