Cornell Class of 2020 Early Decision Discussion

Thanks!!

Those who have been asked for parents tax return, probably they have been admitted. This is observed from earlier college confidential records.

^not true. Admissions and financial aid are separate, that’s why it’s called Need Blind.

From earlier college confidential records, I have found out the following observations:
Those who have been asked for parents tax return, they are probably admitted and considered for Aid.
Those who have not been asked for parents tax return, they may or may not be admitted and even if admitted, not considered for Aid.
For most Aid seekers, No Aid = Indirect Rejection.
Admission is need blind but Aid is not.
This is just a logical observation, may not be correct.

@JohnAhmed Does it apply to internationals too?

@FZM777 This is applied mostly to International Applicants.

@NICE8x, admission office doesn’t mind (which means they probably will look at it) but I have been reading on these threads where some people have commented about Nov SAT being too late.

@JohnAhmed Which threads have you checked btw?

Does Cornell ask for parents tax return through email? I think I just submitted it through this site: https://forms.finaid.cornell.edu/webform/finaid/submit.php?_ga=1.157090494.42028880.1437521473

Do admission notifications for AAP applicants come out the 10th as well?

@NotMyName907 I think it’s for all the Cornell colleges.

My financial aid to-do list still says no items found x_x o lordy altho i sent in my tax returns already…?

@JohnAhmed I was asked for my green card (non-citizen) and my own tax records but I don’t have any?? and I already turned in my parents’ tax records before…does that indicate anything about my decision omg i am LOOKING EVERYWHERE for clues

I thought everyone had to submit tax returns with their aid? @JohnAhmed

@blueberry16 yeah that’s what i kind of thought

Yeah, isn’t everyone supposed to submit both their own own tax records AND parents’ tax records?
At least that’s what I did.

but my take on it is that they probably would only want to look at your fin aid stuff only if youre accepted otherwise looking at fin aid for everyone would be a complete waste of time?

If you had no tax forms to submit then there is a form on their website you should have filled out saying you are not filing one. Also everyone was supposed to submit parent and student tax forms.

I got an email the other day from FA asking me questions about information that couldn’t be found on the CSS and it said that I should reply no later than December 9th.

@awakentrance that’s a good thing cause it means they are not missing anything from you
