Hi- I have no idea if my child will be accepted or not on 3/28 but curious to know if anyone knows the admitted students day date? Just curious for possible planning purposes. Thanks!
It would be nice if this thread could
move away from pointless portal astrology, itās so annoying.
Several years ago my son chose a T20 non ivy over Cornell, he wanted a school with more school spirit, big football games and a different social scene - he is very happy with his choice.
I have that too.
Physics, but would like an opportunity to change if they want along the way. Also a big theatre kid and would desire to be in it on the side. We visited all three, but didnāt get much time at Williams. Amherst is less isolated, but heās leaning toward bigger. Iām not sure how to advise him. But, maybe it wonāt matter.
No football oof, I didnāt realize that. We cut Reed from our list partially due to that. Is there another sport the students get into spirit-wise?
Same!
If heās leaning towards bigger, Cornell wins that battle ; ). And itās fairly straight forward to change majors at Cornell, unless itās an internal transfer to Dyson. Students donāt declare their majors until second semester sophomore year.
Cornell also offers a theater minor and lots of theater related clubs. And there is Risley (although I donāt know how easy it is for freshmen to live there): https://scl.cornell.edu/residential-life/housing/campus-housing/upper-level-undergraduates/program-houses/risley-residential-college
Cornell has a football team. Historically they havenāt been great though. The real team spirit is alive and well for hockey!
Good point! Originally, he wanted to go east, but now has a really good offer from USC and senior year is busy with his final musical, AP tests, club events. It makes it hard to figure out the time to travel. Maybe if he gets in, it will become clearer.
Should we ask this in the EA thread? I think ED students have access to admitted students day(s) in their portals . . .
They have football, but no one goes. Hockey is big.
They fired their long-time football coach at the end of this past season and have hired someone new. Maybe they will get back to a winning football tradition. In hockey, their biggest rivalry is Harvard and they recently had two back-to-back wins against Harvard this past week, which allowed them to advance in the ECAC playoffs. Lacrosse and wrestling are also nationally ranked athletic programs at Cornell.
Hockey sounds fun and new to us. My nephew is in ED at Cornell. My son would love to join him. But, chances are so low. The wait is torture.
Thx for the info. My older sonās at Michigan State, they also have a new coach this fall. Fingers crossed they have a great season (heās in the marching band).
I got this too
Cornell hockey is fun! I imagine the same is true for Lacrosse since they are one of the top in the nation.
Not a ārah-rahā sport but I bet wrestling also gets its fair attention given the strength of the program.
At Cornell, hockey is the biggest thing going and is amazing for school spirit. There is absolutely a football team (beautiful stadium), basketball (just lost to Yale in the Ivy League championship), lacrosse, baseball, track and field, etc. Always something to watch!

Daughter is struggling with this right now, she has two very strong engineering schools to choose from, but what if Cornell comes through? For her, it comes down to bottom line costs vs. value, overall expected college experience and campus vibe (does she feel comfortable around the current students, is the engineering program overly competitive, etc). If she is fortunate to get an Ivy offer, we will have to scramble a campus visit to answer the last question.
Do you mean Cornell? I dont see anything.
I also cannot seem to access the financial aid home page from the preferences. Could be something that they are experimenting with.
