Thank you for your application to Cornell University. While I am genuinely sorry to inform you that we cannot offer you admission for the fall of 2024, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations has decided to extend you a Transfer Option.
The Transfer Option is not a guarantee of future admission to Cornell, but it will allow you to work directly with the School of Industrial and Labor Relations on your path to transfer after study at another institution. Their admissions team will reach out with additional information in the coming days and can answer any questions you may have.

Apparently, you study at another university/college for a year, maintain above a 3.0 GPA, and its almost guaranteed. You apply for fall 2025 as a transfer applicant, apparently very short and no cost (according to CALS transfer option)
Yes, ours said that. My college counselor said itās essentially a guarantee transfer to the major you applied for. They will send you requirements in terms of classes you have to take and min gpa and then you do a mini application (no essays or recommendations) in the spring. He said you will absolutely get in if you meet their outlined requirements.
Daughter was waitlisted for architecture. 1550 SAT, rigorous course loads, midyear GPA 3.9+ UW from an independent school with a reputation of no grade inflation, strong architecture portfolio, essays, and leaderships/extracurricular, national awards.
D24 got waitlisted for CS. 1570 SAT, 36 ACT, 15 APs (6 ongoing, rest are all 5), 4 DE, 4.0UW/4.7W. With Ga Tech CS offer, weāre very much ok with Cornellās soft rejection.
