Also got in UCLA, USC(NMF), UCSD, CMU, WashU, CWRU. Time for some serious thought (on his part) now!
Im not sure. Apparently you will get a follow up letter and be assigned a counselor you can work with. They can probably answerā¦
Hard to beat CA weather and gotta say quality of life at USC is amazing! Good luck with the decision!
My daughter did the Cornell TO (started this year as a sophomore) to the Brooks School. She totally stressed over meeting all the requirements (did freshman year at BC) but transferred in without a hitch.
The orientation process was great, and sheās good friends with many TOās from other schools. Itās a great option.
Any non-TO transfer applicants for Fall 2024 here?

Daughter waitlisted too after ED deferral. Been following your posts. She has everything⦠all the internships and resume activities. Head of school. Culinary magazine. Captain varsity tennis, dorm proctor for freshman (v time consumin and selective) top of her class at top 5 boarding school in US. Great recs, testing. Just mind boggling. Sheās devastated as on paper should be the perfect candidate.
Iām not sure what your situation is but Iām grieving for her too. I truly just canāt understand what they are looking for that she didnāt have. And whatās worse is she has s heart of gold, is so kind.
How are you and your daughter faring?
For those on the waitlist, itās not an automatic rejection. My son was waitlisted at 3 schools last year including Cornell which was his #1 school. Cornell sent an email to him at the end of April and extended him an offer on May 2nd.
If I can give any advice, make sure you follow the directions given to you by your specific college. Each college at Cornell has their own way of handling waitlist. Good luck!
Thank you so much for doing the LGBTQ advocacy. So important. My son also does that in high school. Itās brave and it matters. Congratulations!
@Kadreslin
This is so painful. It just keeps dragging out. Yes, on paper she is the perfect hospitality candidate. President of her hospitality academy, two internships at major hotels, internship at an MLB baseball team as well as a museum. Plays varsity softball. Has the grades and leadership. This is what she wants to do.
Iām still hopeful that this will all work out in the end. But damn, the finish line keeps moving.
Fingers are crossed for both girls.
Did you waitlist at Cornell CALS or another school? Usually people say waitlisted applicants should submit a letter of commitment to their AOs and wait with hope?
He was waitlisted at CAS. He sent a LOCI to someone in CAS (I forget who) but was told to submit it in the link he was given. In his LOCI he pointed out that he would accept an offer if he was lucky enough to get one, updated his accomplishments and pointed out specific things he was looking forward to as a student at Cornell. Btw, he did accept and is now a freshman at Cornell.
My kiddo got declined. But he gave it a shot! He has many great choices. My nephew is going to Cornell in the fall, so someone in the family gets to enjoy Ithaca.
For those of you who get to go on to Ithaca, please check out my absolutely favorite hotel, The Argos Inn - It is totally LGBTQ friendly and hip, and posh and quaint and friendly all at the same time. Very comfortable. I was hoping to move in there permanently , but instead of getting to know Ithaca I will probably be getting to know LA.
Thanks for the color
aww thanks this was such a sweet comment
props to ur son as well! itās v important to me that i honor those who fought so that i could live a safe, happy life as an openly lesbian person in the 2020s and build on their legacy by continuing to advocate for our community and rights
We toured a few weeks ago and saw the Inn. Our car erupted in a chorus of Argos (we have a dog named Argos).
waitlisted!
Something happened for my daughter for Columbia 3 years back. pursue the waitlist vigorously.
