She kept it as an option if she wasn’t satisfied with the school she committed to, but has really found her place at her current school with no intention of transferring.
That’s a great outcome! My child who was WL, after the initial disappointment seems to have moved on and getting excited about another great school she is going to and may not stay on the WL.

Do not expect any waitlist movement until after May 1. And prepare for perhaps a long wait as the waitlist at Cornell will continue to move until late July-early August.
Make your deposit at another school. Make your plans to attend there. If Cornell comes calling, you can pivot.

According to Cornell’s website, they don’t start until May 4. So I’d rely on that over something someone said on Reddit.
