Cornell Early Decision for Fall 2025 Admission

By now, the decisions have been made and are being uploaded to the portal. For most, the defer pile is a better result than the reject pile.

So just a few more days to fret, @fretfulmother.

I’m not even such a fret-person, but am a huge Simpsons fan so this name seemed perfect back in the day probably a decade ago.

I know some got an email confirmed the ED decision date, but Cornell admissions instagram also confirmed ED decisions on Thursday 12/12 at 7pm. Good luck!

Did anyone else get an email from admissions saying they needed a specific tax form? I don’t want to have false hope but does this mean they are seriously considering my kid?! Fingers crossed!

Was the email from admissions or financial aid? I think the two work separately at Cornell.

Regardless, I don’t think we got such an email.

Good luck Thursday.

It was from Cornell Financial Aid. I wonder if they complete all aid apps regardless of admissions status. That’s a lot of work!

We are trying to remain calm, but it’s so close to the deadline!

My understanding is that they work independently of one another but I could be wrong.

Agree on the challenge of trying to remain calm.

Yes!! I did and its driving me nuts. Ive received 2 of these additional info requests already but one this week vs two weeks ago is giving me mixed signals.

For those that received requests for additional Tax Docs - Did you submit the FAFSA?

Yes, we submitted the FAFSA, CSS, and additional info on IDOC. This was a very specific ask that we then had to submit on their website via their own document portal.

Does anyone know, for ED, if we haven’t submitted the FAFSA yet what happens? Do we not hear about financial aid until we do submit? Or are we too late now?

I’m almost 100% positive that you can still submit FAFSA. But, until you do, you can’t get a FA offer.

Financial aid deadline for ED was Nov 15th. If you haven’t submitted and can’t afford to ED without aid, you wont have that decision before the ED deadline to accept the offer.

Thanks. We submitted CSS but not FAFSA yet. How long does it take to get a decision from FAFSA?

I should clarify that this we are late to the fin aid game because of recent circumstances. Hence, the late apply for aid.

Go ahead and call their FA office and I bet they can help you.

Is there no portal astrology still?

Thanks. I was thinking of just calling and withdrawing or seeing if we could still push to RD if we can’t get the FA to work. It’s been a crazy week with job uncertainty.

Yes, call the FA office and see what they recommend!

On the Cornell FA website, it said complete CSS by priority deadline of 11/15 and complete FAFSA as soon as possible after 12/1 (knowing that the FAFSA wouldn’t likely be available prior to 12/1). If you had done the CSS, I wouldn’t worry that much.
