Cornell ED Class of 2021 Discussion Thread

Any accepted ILRies out there?

@bigred1985 I think I saw one somewhere in this thread, but not sure. BTW, my husband is class of '85.

@bigred1985 I got accepted ILR.

@holdencaufield007 i got notified by cornell twice…one for the tata scholarship nd one for the offcial FA package…i got about 60Kdollars…

4 people from my school applied ED to CoE and we all got in.
Dreams really do come true!

@shadowswam99 congrats man…look fwd to meeting you next yr

@bigred1985 eyyy we out here

Just found out my fin aid package, I didn’t get any :frowning:

I got accepted ED, and I just received my email regarding financial aid. My fin aid package says “inquiry access denied,” does this mean I won’t be receiving any aid?

I feel really good for you guys who received $!
I didn’t apply for any $, still deferred…

@Shrikshire technically you don’t need calc to calculate :slight_smile:

@brooklynilene

This is why she was deferred. Same thing happened to my D two years ago. Everything lined up well except her SATs were in the low end of the mid 50%. Most likely your D will get a guaranteed transfer. The reason they (and other colleges that offer spring or sophomore admissions) do this is so that they don’t have to include lower SAT/ACT scores in their statistics. Only the scores of freshmen enrolled in October are counted.

When/how do we get added to CUonthehill? Do we have to enroll first?

@brantly Yes, the gaming for USNWR ranking stats is maddening. So much for “fit” and “holistic review.”

Deferred ILR…p shocking i thought i was overqualified :frowning:

accepted at CAS!

@brantly could you either post the SATs or give us a hint of where they are in relation to the mid 50? Is that a weighted or unweighted gpa? In any case, anything lower than the middle 50 is a tough go despite what schools say about a holistic process.

Your D is obviously a fabulous candidate and any school would be lucky to have her. But imo, based on your post, she hasn’t made the case for fit. The classes you list are common to many applicants. These schools are just so competitive, many of the kids will have done research, internships, etc around their major. The cheer/stunt ec is amazing, shows passion, but doesn’t really talk to impact on campus. It’s great that her “why cornell” showed love for the school but as an ED applicant, cornell knows she loves the school. Was she able to talk to fit for ILR?

Yesterday someone posted their (or maybe it was their kid’s) experience with a deferral. They asked the school counselor to give her adcom a call (after the new year, when they weren’t so busy) to find out what the weakness was with the application. The student sent in another recommendation, updated grades and was admitted. if I were a betting man, I’d bet that if the school counselor gets the info, your d will figure it out and will be admitted.

luck!

@doorla Same here! We’ll see each other in the UC thread now LOL

@2021Fr CONGRATS!! Do you mind sharing some stats and information? I’m just really curious since all other AAP applicants here (and everyone I know) got deferred. I really wanna know what they are looking for. (If you have one, and you don’t mind, maybe a link to your portfolio would be super helpful.) Thanks!!

Uhh guys? I haven’t recieved any email from cornell, nothing from the fin aid office either. Should i be worried?
@Bobby2956 Congrats man, you deserve it:)
