Cornell ED Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

Also @hardtime as you now see, not having the interview had no bearing. I assume it’s because you were so close and already know everything there is to know about Cornell!!

Congrats to your daughter!!

@srsparent15 – the acceptance was just a one page letter. It stated that the competition for the CoE was especially keen this year. Really no instructions on what to do other than a reminder to pay the deposit by early January. My daughter didn’t apply for financial aid, so maybe others will get more of a package, or maybe there will another mailing from the University, or maybe everything else is handled electronically.

Congrats to your daughter as well!!!

I believe someone early had said you just get a letter now then Cornell sends a larger package in April with the RD folks.

@Hardtime and @bigredhope Thanks. I actually called the financial aid office yesterday to ask a question about a sher “award” (hah) and asked if something more formal will come in the mail or if is only what she received online, and they said only what she saw online, which of course is also based on this year’s current rates so everything is somewhat moot anyway.

Our mail came already and nothing from Cornell yet. So maybe tomorrow then or early next week. Thanks!

What activity can be used as extra curricular? Is boxing or going To the gym an extracurricular?

Someone was asking about the stats for this year’s acceptances I believe. Here they are.

For all those wondering about the letter in the mail: We received it today and it is nothing fancy. Basically a two page letter and an informational flyer. So I think the more extensive welcome package goes out in late March with the regular decision mailing.

Are there anyone who still haven’t received their financial aid awards?

@istpa556

I have not received my aid package yet. I did get an email from financial aid office asking for more information though. Should be here eventually. I’m not worried.

Are ED financial packages different compared to RD? I heard accepted students in RD gets more aid since the school wants to attract them to attend?

Nope. Cornell is need-blind in admissions and meets 100% of demonstrated need.

Is there a certain college that accepts more than others or no?

@trish154 CoE and CAS usually accept less students relative to the applicant pool, but I still think whether or not you “fit” into a certain college based on your areas of interests and overall profile plays a larger role.

I got rejected from the Hotel and I am so sad. What are ur stats, activities, etc?

@clamchowder6 How can I facetime you? I also got rejected ED1 to hotel school so we can talk it out haha.

@SBW08991 What are ur stats? I am really sad as I got rejected ED1 from hotel school.

@gingerbread1999 u said u got deffered from cornell and got in; but on ur page, u told someone u got deferred from brown and got in. u couldnt have applied ED to both – which one did u apply ED to and were u really deferred? also, what school within Cornell did u apply to?

@cornellplsacptme did you have any hooks? i applied to cals info sci regular decision and really want to go to cornell

Hey all, congrats to all who were accepted in the ED round. Does anyone know if Cornell requires Mid-Year reports for ED applicants who were accepted? Seems counter-intuitive, but just want to be sure…

Yes, they do
