@Treedophile I get the same message. Are you applying for financial aid because I am not. Maybe that is why we have the same message. Anyone know?
@brianlau7 Mine is still listed as “initiated” too. I emailed the Financial Aid office and they said that they’re currently focused on processing documents for Class of 2023 students.
The transfer transcript isn’t the transcript that you requested from your current institution or high school; it’s a separate item that the financial aid office will handle. Don’t worry about whether you have to order one or not because the status won’t change if you send them a transcript; you already did that for admissions to evaluate. Plus, the whole PIN trick is pointless if it’s applicable the night before or a few hours before because it’s not a big deal to just wait until the time you get your decision from them.
If your transfer transcript says “initiated”, that could mean multiple things, so try not to make any assumptions. If you see that the status for the transfer transcript changed to “ordered”, that means you’re accepted because there would be no point in the finaid office to order your ‘transfer transcript’ if they’re not going to take you (saying this in a logical standpoint since some have raised skepticism about this). If you don’t see anything on your finaid to-do-list but never witnessed your transfer transcript status being ‘ordered’, that means you’re accepted as well because I saw that mine changed to ‘ordered’ and I have nothing on my finaid to-do-list.
Again, I know everyone has many mixed feelings about the upcoming week, but try not to focus on it too much. What’s more important than an acceptance is doing well in your current semester if you’re in college. Your final grades will truly determine if you’re going to go to Cornell or not, even if you made the early commitment to transfer. Do something else that will steer your focus away from the decisions release. When the time comes to view your decision, then the feelings are inevitable. Again, regardless of how your decisions turn out from Cornell, don’t think it’s the end of the world. There are plenty of opportunities open besides one brand name, so don’t immerse yourself too much into one particular school. I definitely wish you all the best and know that you put your heart & soul into the application because you all have great ambitions. But, don’t let those ambitions stem from one particular school because if you don’t get accepted, it’ll end up hurting you more and forcing unnecessary emotions in you.
Everyone, take a breather and understand that whatever decision you get from Cornell is the best decision for you!
@enviscimath11 Thank you so much! Your comment is positive and encouraging and I like that! You are totally right!
@Mandiland328 @Treedophile I got the same message too. I am not applying for financial aid.
“If you don’t see anything on your finaid to-do-list but never witnessed your transfer transcript status being ‘ordered’, that means you’re accepted as well because I saw that mine changed to ‘ordered’ and I have nothing on my finaid to-do-list.” @enviscimath11 can you clarify exactly what you mean this is confusing. I have nothing on my to do list other than the transfer transcript but it still says initiated.
Hi guys so I haven’t turned in my midterm report because one of my professors are so irresponsive and idk if that would ruin the chance of me being accepted but I should be able to get it in by this week hopefully
Well, that’s weird because I am applying for financial aid
@ndcuva According to Cornell’s website, your transfer application will not be considered complete until all supporting documents are received. You should call the admissions office to see if they would be able to process the midterm report now considering that committees may be looking at applications at this moment.
is it possible that decisions will come out today? SHA applicant here!
I thought decisions come out in May
I wish we were that lucky to get decisions! I hope mine is next week!
@wanjunhing
Why today? Are there indications?
@enviscimath11 Can you please clarify what you meant by this?
“If you don’t see anything on your finaid to-do-list but never witnessed your transfer transcript status being ‘ordered’, that means you’re accepted as well because I saw that mine changed to ‘ordered’ and I have nothing on my finaid to-do-list.”
I currently have nothing on my to-do-list and only an “initiated” transcript on the item list. By your logic, does that mean I’m in?
I wish they could just accept all of us
@natalianavajo @grundeis If you read what I wrote, “If your transfer transcript says “initiated”, that could mean multiple things, so try not to make any assumptions”. If you have initiated as your status for the transfer transcript, it doesn’t mean you’re accepted.
Has anyone tried calling Cornell? Which phone did you use
The phone on their website doesn’t work for me, as it just returns to the menu and says “ask for help” and nothing else…
Those that have the disappearing finaid checklist. Three questions: what school have you applied to, are you a TO/GT, and did u apply for finaid.
Sometimes the colleges tend to surprise a bit and release decisions earlier than expected.
Remember, decisions won’t start releasing until next week. Do not expect them to come out any earlier!
So, they gave until this Monday to submit missing documents, but they will start releasing decisions next week. So, I assume that means that they really have started reviewing some applicants way before the 15th, and before the checklist was even published, correct? Unless, they are really fast, but still… I was under the impression that this is supposed to be somewhat lengthy process (longer than a week anyway): Deans read it first, and then it goes to the committee (unless Cornell does it differently). Hmm…
