Cornell Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

Can someone explain to me what TO means vs regular transfers?

Also I tried logging into my FA checklist and for some reason it directed me to an Oracle page which has never happened in the past…

@brianlau7 Hey, yeah I applied to Dyson AEM. I’m not a transfer option (transfer option guarantees acceptance, right?). I actually applied as a junior transfer. Nope, still initiated…

@whostolemycookie

TO (transfer option) is given to high school seniors who applied to Cornell but are not accepted. Cornell, instead of admitting those students, gives them a transfer option. It gives the student an option to complete their first year at another college and then Cornell will accept them as a sophomore (should they fulfill certain prerequisites).

So basically Cornell doesn’t like the student enough to admit them as freshman, but like the student enough to give them a second chance.

According to the Cornell site:

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business is pleased to offer transfer options (TOs) to a select number of first-year applicants. Due to first-year enrollment restrictions and the depth of the applicant group, we are unable to offer admission to many applicants who have shown outstanding academic potential and passion for our programs.

The TO is another way for these students to enter our college.

PS: The Oracle thing is just a bug. Try again later, it will usually work.

When logging into the transeval link, the logos on the top show CALS and Dyson. Does that mean that applications to other schools such as ILR, A&S, Engineering, etc will not be able to use the transeval link to estimate when decisions might be released?

@dyEM_XTO

Will that site (https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu/) work even if I applied to Cornell Engineering?
I’m asking because after you log into it, the page displays CALS and Dyson logos (along with CALS email cals_admissions@cornell.edu), but not the Engineering one.

@summit3

LOL! We are on the same page! XD

@summit3 @OwlOfAthena

Interesting. The transeval website requires a login. I am assuming that if it were not meant for other colleges (and was only meant for CALS and Dyson applicants), the login shouldn’t work in the first place.

HOWEVER, according to previous posts, well…here it is:

@samwantstogoivy Transeval is only for Dyson and CALS. Maybe it was an error that you could even look at it because you are College of Human Ecology and they don’t use Transeval. Idk

Seems that Transeval is only for CALS and Dyson applicants, given that I don’t see people of other schools talking about it when I search “Transeval” on previous posts.

@dyEM_XTO thanks for the clarification and also for such an in-depth analysis! That aside, has anyone heard anything about ILR? I know in past years Ian called a few applicants; was wondering if something similar is going on this year.

@summit3 I applied to ILR as well! I emailed him last week and he said that they will still be reviewing apps for the next few weeks. No calls from him so far

@dyEM_XTO so if my FA didn’t change from initiated to ordered, its a definite rejection?

@fuzzycupcake17 No…if it states initiated, it doesn’t mean anything.

What is this “initiated” to “ordered” thing on FA checklist?
If you have “initiated” this does not mean anything (unless you know for sure that your decision is going to be released at a particular date);

I was unclear. Even if you know when your results are going to be released, it still doesn’t mean much. There have been applicants who were officially notified of their acceptance whom yet show “initiated.”

It doesn’t mean anything. They are still looking through applications.

Also, I just want to note that if you submitted an application to Cornell in a previous year the PIN trick will not work. When I tried again this year it attempts to reset my old PIN from the 2018 application.

@dyEM_XTO tried the pin trick for the first time this morning around 8:30am and it worked, and i’m a dyson to. does this mean i’m getting my decision this coming tuesday? yikes

I got “No e-mail found” for the pin trick

Hi all,

I was emailing with Ian over at ILR, and he said something I thought you all should know. Were in this together! Here is the email he sent me. The first sentence was him answering a question of mine. The last sentence is a concern for all ILR applicants.

“No problem at all. Many documents have arrived over the last couple of weeks, so this will not impact your application. We’re currently going through transfer files and hope to release all decisions by the end of the month. Good luck!”

@fruityninja Not sure if we will get it that soon, but Cornell shouldn’t have any reason to withhold their decision if they already made it. Hope we both make it haha It’d be cool to see each other on campus

try logging in with the PIN. it will tell you date it comes out. my Pin is still pin from last year application (im TO)

@dyEM_XTO yes! that would be really nice :smiley:
@cornellto2022 just tried it and got an error message. does that mean that pin trick actually didn’t work? false alarm :stuck_out_tongue:
