well based off of what admissions told @ndcuva i don’t really expect decisions for non TOs anytime soon. they might be reviewing things right now but the actual decision will be pretty late. super bummed but then again i don’t expect to get in hahaha
definitely lol. I was after you and my stuff has been processed. if you’re a TO they’re prioritizing TO.
@cryingchemist you’ll get an email the night before your decisions come out with a PIN so you can check your decision the next day. No need to keep checking the portal.
@bujolover25 Thanks! You just saved me a lot of time lol
@ParZival12 from where? last year’s thread or here? I don’t know much about it but they just emailed me saying verbatim “Note that there is no great rush at our end for you to submit this form. If you are able to get the professor’s note/signature added to the form in the next two weeks, and submit at that time, that will be acceptable” so maybe there are waves but wouldn’t that be unfair and decrease the chances for those who haven’t been reviewed but have better stats compared to someone else who might have been already reviewed and was chosen to take a spot from the first wave? *sorry idk if I made sense but basically I feel like the spots would be given disproportionately
i just realized a typo on my resume… am i screwed?
@onebfi @fruityninja have your guys fin aids been ordered yet? I think Dyson and SHA TOs are getting evaluated later than next week, but what do i know lol
@brianlau7 no it hasn’t yet. Dyson admissions told me that first decisions will be released “no earlier than April 23rd” so I am hoping that means on April 23rd!
@onebfi same mine is still initiated, getting so anxious lol and the SHA people said early May so waiting just kills haha
Wooot!
They have processed my remaining financial aid paperwork. Now, it’s just the ‘Transfer Transcript’ left on the To Do list.
@brianlau7 didn’t apply for fa but now i really wish i did so that i could check my status T_T
@wanjunhing Typos on resumes or essays will not kill your application. Admission officers understand the applicant is human and can often interpret the meaning of your typo. Its the content of the essays and the resumes they care about. Unless it will change the meaning altogether of your resume or denotes a false pretense, you are fine. Nobody is perfect!
New to the thread! Has anyone heard back yet? When I talked to admissions over the phone a while ago i think they mentioned that decisions will start rolling out on April 16
Both TO and regular transfer applications are released together in the same wave because they’re not evaluated by the same committee. For those that are regular transfers, don’t worry about whether you’re getting your decision late. Your time is coming.
@whostolemycookie No, decisions are going to start releasing next Tuesday, April 23.
When is the last wave of decisions going to be released?
everything should be out by June 15th i THINK, someone correct me if I’m wrong though
I thought I read that all decisions should be out by May 15th. That is what I have on my checklist.
This is not 100% accurate. I’m just looking for patterns. And this is my first post.
When trying to “predict” your acceptance/rejection, couple factors seem relevant.
(1) Pin trick (https://decision.applyyourself.com/fl_login.aspx?id=cornellu)
(2) FA checklist “initiated” to “ordered” (https://finaid.cornell.edu/check-application-status) CLICK “Log in here with your ApplicantID and PIN”
(3) Transeval (https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu)
So what is this “pin trick?”
If you go to the link (https://decision.applyyourself.com/fl_login.aspx?id=cornellu), on the webpage you will see a “Forgot your PIN or password?” link. Click on it and enter your email. If you enter email and click submit, you may or may not receive an EMAIL (to your gmail account or whatever) with your PIN and password reset instructions.
→ If you receive this password reset email, it only means your decision has been made (does not determine acceptance/rejection)
→ If you do not receive this password reset email, it means your decision current has not been made yet (again no proof of acceptance/rejection)
What is this “initiated” to “ordered” thing on FA checklist?
If you have “initiated” this does not mean anything (unless you know for sure that your decision is going to be released at a particular date); the fact that the “pin trick” works does not indicate that you will receive your decision the day after the “pin trick” works (the “pin trick” worked for me two days ago, yet decision is still not officially released for me)
If you had “initiated” and now it reads “ordered,” your accepted. Congratulations.
If you read nothing, or if it read “ordered” and now it reads nothing, again, congratulations on your acceptance.
Now, remember this line above (unless you know for sure that your decision is going to be released at a particular date)? It is possible to know exactly when your decision is officially going to come out ONLY on the day before the results come out. Let me explain. If you go to the (3) TRANSEVAL (https://transeval.cals.cornell.edu) website, right now it says that “Applicants will be granted access to this page after receiving their official decision from the University.” If this messages changes, to either “welcome” or “we are sorry” or whatever message, it means that the decision will officially come out FOR YOU (for others we don’t know, especially because applicants are notified on rolling basis) TOMORROW. Note that the official decision may have come out on say the Apr. 17th (random date), but when you checked the Transeval the day before (on the 16th), the message didn’t change. This is due to Cornell server having yet been updated. I believe Cornell’s servers update at 4:05 am or pm, I remember reading somewhere.
Now that we are done explaining the three concepts (1) (2) and (3), lets try to make out certain patterns.
Each school (CALS, Dyson, etc.) seems to release results independently (at different dates).
Looking at the 2018 college confidential thread for Cornell transfers (searching specifically for Dyson),
(1) It seems MOST (if not all) that were accepted have been officially notified before May 10th; except for one person who was accepted in June.
(2) It seems that MOST that were rejected have been notified on or after May 15/16th.
(3) The above pattern does NOT hold true for Dyson transfers 2017
For Dyson transfers 2017, the opposite pattern seems true.
(a) Most of those who received official decision early (late April to early May) were rejected.
(b) Those who received official decision mid-May, little more than half seem accepted, other half rejected (although enough were accepted (compared to number of accepted among those who received notification early) to predict that at least that those who received official decisions early are probably rejected.
So in 2019, which pattern should we look at? I know that Dyson AEM transfer applicants are reviewed by the same admissions team as the team that reviews applicants for SHA. So I looked up the 2017 and 2018 Cornell transfer thread searching specifically for SHA. For 2018, three posted of their acceptance to SHA. Two were given acceptance before May 10th. One was accepted late-May, May 30th. Two posted rejection on May 22-23, two rejected on June 13th, and one got rejected “two weeks ago” since May 3rd (so assuming full 2 weeks Apr. 19th, seems to be an outlier). The pattern is consistent with Dyson 2018 transfer results: (1) It seems MOST (if not all) that were accepted have been officially notified before May 10th; except for one person who was accepted in June. (2) It seems that MOST that were rejected have been notified on or after May 15/16th.
For 2017, again searching specifically for SHA, only one non Guaranteed Transfer posted acceptance. That person received decisions on May 23rd. Of two that were rejected, one posted rejection on May 31st. I assume that the other was rejected (On May 17th) since he didn’t post his acceptance on the tread (said on May 16 that decision is released tomorrow at 10. No additional posts since then). None of this is follows the 2017 Dyson transfer pattern.
When predicting results for 2019, I am inclined to heed to Dyson and SHA’s 2018 patterns, NOT their contradictory 2017 patters. Why? From Wikipedia “On January 28, 2016 the Cornell Board of Trustees authorized the design and implementation of a plan for a Cornell College of Business, comprising the university’s three exceptional accredited business schools: the School of Hotel Administration (SHA), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson).[6] The new Cornell College of Business is expected to begin enrollment in the fall of 2016.”
→ So 2017 was, I believe, the first time when the same admissions team reviewed both SHA and Dyson transfer applicants (Initially SHA was not part of SC Johnson. Dyson was. Two different colleges. So I assume different admissions team,) So it probably was all over the place.
So for 2019, most that are accepted to the Dyson School will probably have received their official decision early, mid-late Apr. to early May (before May 10th). Assuming this is true, it would be reasonable to also assume that the admissions team at Dyson already made their decisions for applicants to whom they plan to send official decision early. You can know whether your decision has been made by the “pin trick” above. If it works, the admissions made their decision.
NOW THIS IS ALL JUST MY THEORY
That said, does the “pin trick” work for anyone as of Thursday, April 18?
(A) if it does not work, FOR DATABASE PURPOSES FOR FUTURE TRANSFER APPLICANTS, it would be nice to know: which college you are applying to, along with the date the “pin trick” didn’t work.
(B) if it does work, it would be helpful for others if you post the date on which the “pin trick” worked for the first time for you.
And when the time comes, when some upload the results (as will I), we can know what receiving your “pin trick” early means in terms of acceptance/rejection WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF PARTICULAR COLLEGE AND THAT COLLEGE’S ACCEPTANCE/REJECTION PATTERNS.
Thank you and have a wonderful day.
@dyEM_XTO appreciate the pattern research lol, did you apply to dyson? if so are you a TO? and did your fin aid change to ordered yet?
