@IndirectProofs
Thank you! I had actually wrote a comment for you earlier, but it said it was pending mod approval, I may have had a typo for something.
But I wanted to say, don’t feel disheartened by rejection. The application process is tailored towards people with privledged circumstances. I read your math article earlier, and your story is very similar to my own, my father was an addict who died during my childhood, and my high school was ranked around the worst in my state.
I did not have any support. I am a self taught computer scientist, never programmed before college, and was awful at math as well. I just finished Calc 2 with an A or B, not sure. Compared to someone who struggled with algebra in high school.
Essentially self taught violinist as well, forgot to mention that. I’ve only been playing a year and had 2 concerts, studied under a very talented international orchestra musician as well recently. Auditioning for an orchestra position myself soon.
Everyone in this thread will flourish, bloom, and thrive at any institution they choose to attend. No amount of rejections will replace the immeasurable work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and dedication that you all have shown.
I have slept in cars, on floors, etc so I can continue my education. I am not going to give up. I will get those Computer Science and Neuroscience degrees!
@JellyPeeps I am from North Carolina, currently attend school and live in South Carolina.
Non-TO CAS I have yet to hear anything.
Wanted to update everyone on here. My daughter did receive her acceptance today. She is/was a TO for CALS and is very excited to finally have the answer she was looking for. For those keeping track, her FA did change to “ordered” yesterday, but she was never interested in trying the “pin trick”. I also wanted to add that, as a father, I’m so sorry for those who weren’t as fortunate as she was. I know how personal it can feel, but with time I’m sure you’ll discover the old cliches usually do hold true: “Everything happens for a reason” and “It will all work out in the end.” Keep your heads held high and continue to reach for your goals and you will be successful even beyond your own expectations.
@Needmoreec same! after seeing the quality of people rejected this week I feel like I have no chance.
Where did you apply? I know some of the schools in NC offer pretty decent financial aid. Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, Wake Forest… those are all really great schools that could be a good fit for you. I have friends that have gone to or are currently in undergrad and grad programs there. They offer good financial aid, have lovely campuses, and Chapel Hill in particular is in a fun area.
@mikeobrien21 tbh I’m not really holding out for Cornell based on the stats here but no regrets amiright? Best of luck to you though!!
@Firstofmany Congrats to your daughter!
I am waiting on Duke, Northwestern, Stanford, USC, Vandy, and a couple other ivies. I was rejected Wake Forest when I applied, and WL Chapel Hill because they have admissions quotas for each county.
I am hoping community college will fare better for me, but I won’t be able to complete every pre-req before I apply. Maybe Cornell will let me apply for sophomore status since I just recently decided to do Neuroscience.
@Firstofmany Congratulations to your daughter!! She has a heck of an adventure ahead of her.
@stringtheories Well, good luck with your applications. Hopefully one works out this year. If not, there is always next year.
@JellyPeeps Thanks! I know she does, it’s going to be another difficult adjustment for her for sure.
So my pin trick didn’t work and I have no update. Still waiting. LOL.
Rejected this morning.
Non-TO, Top public university, 3.9 college GPA, & applied to Dyson.
Just FYI–my PIN trick didn’t work yesterday and my FA was on initiated.
Congrats on all those who got in!
Rejected. Non-TO psych major from a top 40.
@stressfulpique when did you have all of your application materials submitted? Thanks
hey @aqaqseattle im a humanec to too and i was just wondering what your stats or major was? concerned bc i didn’t hear anything yet
Engineering major, on initiated. Still did not hear anything yet. I start to convince myself that my decision is not what I will like to hear, but it is all right. Good to luck to everyone.
So there were some Dyson rejections today…And to highly qualified folks with some very fierce stats nonetheless… I’m guessing they either lost my application, or it’s at the bottom of the rejection pile still… To everyone who applied and didn’t get in today, please don’t lose faith in your abilities. America’s future is headed towards challenging times and we need as many hard working, highly intelligent, risk takers- like yourselves- as we can get. In many ways, it’s wrong of us to put so much value into the name of the institution attached to our pedigree… Please keep striving towards your ambitious academic dreams, all of you!
I admire your determination and resilience.
any non-TO CAS still waiting
I am @Kalistyne … i’m a bio major wbu
