Cornell Fall 2019 Transfer Thread

I’m pretty sure it’s on a case by case basis. They will review your application again and if you are only a class or two short with the necessary GPA they should still allow it. Maybe a summer class or two would be required but my friend was a class short due to scheduling conflicts and he was still fine

Does anyone have access to the portal where they can see the checklist yet?

@busybee1234 Even if you meet the GPA requirements, they will evaluate your application with regular transfers if you don’t fully meet the course requirements. The exception is if you explain your situation to Cornell, otherwise they are likely to not make any exceptions for you. It’s only if you informed them of your circumstance and they specifically told you that it’s okay that you haven’t fully met the course requirements. What’s your intended major for CALS?

@enviscimath11 Biological sciences. Would it be too late to explain my reasoning?

I saw on this thread that decisions have historically come out mid-April, yet my portal still doesn’t show the checklist. Can we expect decisions this year to come out a bit later as a result? (also does Cornell do waves, or all at once?)

what checklist are we talking about?

@busybee1234 yeah pretty much. You had since August 2018 to communicate with CALS as best as you could about everything and anything that’s going on with you. Just hope for the best at this point tbh, don’t think about it too much. It’s out of your hands now that you submitted your application.

@bvbchamps I like your username btw. Transfer decisions are released on a rolling basis and it’s been historically consistent that decisions have started coming out starting from the third Tuesday of April, which for us is April 16. If you want a possible status check on your decision, then check your financial aid to-do list to see if your “transfer transcript” status changed from “initiated” to “ordered”; that basically means you’re accepted. All the decisions don’t come out at once, they come out every Tuesday until sometime late May or early June.

@drosedrose checklist, meaning application checklist that shows what Cornell has and doesn’t have from you

I wonder why they won’t show us our checklist. It seems kind of silly.

@enviscimath11 has your financial aid transfer transcript changed status from initiated to ordered? I’m a TO and mine has not yet.

@enviscimath11 that “initiated” vs “ordered” stuff is speculation and holds no merit. Don’t spread random things like that.

We will know our decision if it says “accepted” or “rejected” once they choose to release it, which is anywhere between now and June 15th.

@Snekfest - In response to when you heard that decisions were coming out: In the 2018 thread, it looks like all the transfer decisions were coming out around May 15th. On the transfer timeline it even says that decisions would come out around May or June. Do they actually begin to come out in April? I’m confused lol.

I’m just forgetting about my applications. I was obsessing over them the last few days and I realized that it’s just making me stressed. So I’m just going to rest knowing that I did my best!

@ParZival12 Someone that went to PTK catalyst wrote. Not sure about validity again. I would not hold my breath, just gonna wait for the May deadline.

From what I’ve seen we can expect decisions starting mid April for the first wave, which hopefully we are all in! I haven’t posted here before, but I’m a Massachusetts community college student trying to transfer into Cornell Engineering. I did manage to maintain a 4.0 GPA so far, but I’m a little weak on the extracurricular stuff, so fingers crossed!

Can anyone access the financial aid checklist? Or will it become available along with the admission materials checklist?

@onebfi it hasn’t changed yet. Don’t expect it to change for now.

@OwlOfAthena you can access your financial aid to do list in your AppID account, but the application status of what admissions has and doesn’t have from you has yet to come out

@transferrrrrrcc lol it’s not random, look back to previous threads if you really think I’m trying to make any speculations. Although it’s not the best merit, it’s better than what you think it is

Just got my checklist!
