@sastronaut Remember that most applicants who get in don’t receive likely letters. Likely letters are coveted, but extremely rare.
@sastronaut only about 100 people if not less get a likely letter. So yeah I’m pretty sure it won’t mean you’re rejected.

@Harvard2022maybe Deferred?
@sastronaut yeah deferred.
Hi everyone, I just realized that my likely letter (for Tanner Dean’s Scholar nomination) says that “Although the Ivy League schools will not officially notify students about admission decisions until later this month, it may help you with your planning to know that you will very likely be admitted to Cornell University.” It seems as if some people’s diversity letters are saying that they “will be admitted,” not that they “will very likely be admitted.” Should I be worried that my acceptance is not 100% guaranteed?
Wow
potayto, potahto. no, you shouldn’t worry because unless you majorly mess up (fail a class, academic dishonesty, etc.), you’re basically in. don’t read too much into the differences in the language of the letters… both are likely letters and they both mean the same thing
no, relax, its all good my friend @happysnappy
is there a transfer option for CAS? I really hope so b/c that’s the school I applied to. I’ve only heard this happen for CALS or ILR…
@mclmom if we are a female engineer and do not get a WIE LL are we most likely not getting in?
@confused6789 I don’t think so. As people have said, it would be unfair to let all the girls know and not the guys. They only tell the very top applicants.
Does a likely letter from Cornell usually signify good odds for the other Ivy League schools?
@apexdude the person i knew from last year got a likely letter from Cornell…not admitted to any other Ivy they applied or a few other top schools. So, in short, NO - doesn’t signify good odds.
If a black male engineering applicant did not receive a diversity hosting letter, does that mean he will receive a “denied” response? I understand that only a few “likely” letters were sent but I am uncertain about diversity hosting based on earlier thread responses.

@2018hsmom not at all. My brother, black male in architecture, got accepted a few years back without getting any early notification
