Cornell RD Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

My son got a Likely Letter two days for Biomedical Engineering - Diversity program.

@LASA_Parent Hey CONGRATS! Where do you guys live?

We live in Austin Texas. Thanks.

A kid at my school with a 1000 SAT (not even joking) got a diversity letter. He was rejected from a lot of other schools.

@londonvale guess it’s better to wait for March 28. So many incredible candidates. Great to know this is our future leaders.

Maybe he was an athlete @anonymous_otter127

Athlete? I hope Ha ha
Anyone here from ILR? Waiting… patiently ??? Nope

@danakaplan i got Deferred ED ILR so i’ve been waiting a whiiilee ;(

Got rejected from UVA - safe to say Cornell isn’t going to happen. Good luck to the rest of you though!

Did anyone get a very specific financial aid request from Cornell today? They asked about specific dollar amounts and such…

@anonymous_otter127
Do you know his GPA and other of his contributions?

Cornell and other selective colleges do not want to see their students fail. If they think this student would not be able to compete academically, it is hard to believe they would accept him.

Also, there are many very qualified students who are rejected from so-called “safety” colleges.

My daughter got the Diversity Hosting email, then the hard letter came in the mail yesterday. It said you will be admitted. When I called to confirm her flight information, the lady told me that they were making travel arrangements for 500 students. My daughter is a very good student with good stats, but honestly, I think her Alum interview is what may have put her over the edge.

time for last spring break vacation… hopefully i don’t obsess over this thread too much over break

His weighted gpa is like a 3.7. He is not an athlete. But he is half black half hispanic.

@anonymous_otter127 a lot of admitted students who don’t match the “perfect student” stereotype, usually also overcome or have undergone extraordinary circumstances and experiences. These usually go beyond the typical “tough life” stories and are truly amazing. Bottom line, like @rphcfb, they wouldn’t accept him if they thought he couldn’t succeed academically and he obviously offers something to the campus that no other applicant could

*like @rphcfb said

@anonymous_otter127 where are you guys from? His essays were probably everything on a page!

got waitlisted at BC. hopes for cornell and brown are poof! gone

@Kd6410 what makes you so sure you won’t get in Cornell if rejected UVA?

@GatormarriedNole UVA is an awesome school, but Cornell is more selective. Odds are since I didn’t get into UVA an even better university won’t accept me - unless the OOS pool this year was just super insane. I also applied to ILR so priority will go to NY residents probably
