That’s interesting. Does it say “processing” for documents you haven’t submitted? Or are they all docs you have submitted.
Anyone have a guess to which day Cornell will release decisions this year? Considering it was Dec 15 last year I’d assume it would be similar.
Dec 14. @7pm. 7 more days😬
Whats the source of this date??
The financial aid dept. she said they just told them.
All docs I have submitted
it made sense since they needed to calculate financial aid for the admitted students.
Cornell could care less about demonstrated interest. They recognize the international students and students in poverty can not visit or do programs, so they do not factor it in at all. From their website:
Does Cornell give preference to applicants who have demonstrated their interest by calling, emailing, or visiting the university? - Frequently Asked Questions.
Applying ED itself is demonstrated interest.
My daughter’s counselor said 12/14
Surprised no email from Cornell with the official announcement of Ed decision date.
College Couselors recieved a letter saying that it will be announced 12/14 7pm
That letter included this language. Does that mean that these applicants are either accepted or denied, no deferral? It looks like it from that language.
- Early Decision applicants not offered admission cannot be reconsidered during Regular Decision.
I would take that to mean that if a student is denied admission they cannot reapply before the deadline for re-consideration in RD. That has always been their stance (i.e. can’t apply to CALS ED and the A&S RD). If they defer then that student WILL be considered in the RD round.
I know that historically they have always had deferrals but that is not what is says here. It says if the student is not offered admission they will not be considered in regular decision. A deferral falls into the “not offered admission” category. They may have misworded it but thats kind of a big thing to misword.
I don’t think it does! I think they are simply saying if you are denied in the early round that is it for this year. If you are deferred they have not made a decision yet, they did not “not offer” admission they just didn’t “offer it yet”! My D21 was deferred ED (along with several classmates) and accepted RD (along with her deferred classmates).
…yes, I can’t imagine they would not have deferrals especially with the reduction of acceptances in ED this year. But I think it is poorly worded.
I know 1 from 2021 and 1 from 2022 both deferred and then accepted.
I’m expecting a lot of deferrals given their proposed plan for less ED acceptances.
Not quite. There was never any promise, commitment or suggestions of any number of applications being accepted through early admission.
And quite frankly, to not see the privilege of being able to apply ED is a bit tone-deaf. Let me guess, if your kid doesn’t get in, you’ll blame it on some undeserving kid getting in before them or socialism…
wow, Everyone can apply for ED and as you implicitly endorsed that attendance cost shall be need based, and it is need based. why applying for ED is a privilege then?
