One of my friends got into Nolan which I assume is the Hotel School? I only know one kid from my high school that got into Cornell. But a few were deferred.

Denied unfortunately. 3 of us have different opinions:
Mom: That is good. I do not want her to go that far at all. If she gets sick in school, I cannot visit and help. who cares the damn schools.
Dad: This is unfortunate. However, she shall be able to get into a good UC, saving 200k after tax money over 4 years. I will dump that money into some good stocks for her and she has a good chance to be a (multiple) millionaire after her PhD in a hard science.
D: visibly sad for a while. Lock herself in her room. After all, she did all this damn application work by herself. it is indeed a lot of work which is harder for first generation of immigrants.

Anyway, Congratulations to kids and families who make it today. For the rest of majority, keep your dream alive and carry it on somewhere else. no big deal.

Kids don’t understand about money.

Dad is going to make her financially viable for a long time.

And mom will get to be there if needed (and holidays will be easier).

Sounds like a win to me - and your daughter will realize when she can retire earlier!!!
