The FAFSA hasn’t even opened yet, so that is not required at this point.
Not true, I contacted the financial Aid office and they said you can still file the CSS profile just that the priority deadline has already passed NOT the final deadline. And FAFSA hasn’t even opened yet…
Ok, that’s good. I’m just reporting what I saw on Cornell’s website on the financial aid page. I believe you should file the CSS as soon as possible.
My financial aid application page changed again today. Now it is almost completely blank and says “No current to do item information found.” Does everyone have the same?
I am ok with some preferential treatment for folks who make major donations. I understand this is unfair. But major universities are able to do need-based attendance cost just because someone else pays for it - donations make up large part of discounted costs. Without this, only the top 5-10 earners in US are able to afford Cornel alike. This situation could create much worse equity issues and most people will cry for this.
I agree legacy admission policy shall be eliminated.
Thank you for the thorough explanation. This is very helpful.
Thank you.
I still see things processing
Did you listen to the Financial aid session this evening? Wondering if there was anything new to learn?
They mainly talked through the financial aid process and some programs that are specific to ny residents. They talked a bit about IDOC requests and said that they only make the request if they need it. I believe they also said that families making less than $75K a year will automatically qualify for full aid and therefore won’t receive an IDOC request.
Thank you and good luck to everyone!
Before decisions come out, I would like to thank everyone for their help and wish everyone good luck!
Good luck everyone!
Anyone having issue logging into their portal?
Good luck, everyone! Realizing that at least 80% of kids won’t have the luck today, parents should prepare some warm words for your kid! Sending out the application itself is a success. My girl did the application all by herself. It is not because we can not afford a college counselor. we want to be the real one and we think the college AOs read too many polished essays and they probably have a good idea what a high school student can go. One way or the other, it is a success. A particular school never defines a person. Keep the dream alive!
