Cornell University Early Decision for Fall 2024 Admission

We don’t see anything listed on the portal. Hope that’s not a bad sign. Nothing under the To do list either.

IRS tax forms processing seems like a good sign! I guess Cornel won’t bother with this for denied candidates with the exception of folks who do not need financial aid at all.

you have this because you applied financial aid?

The whole process is confusing to me. Well, we just have to wait and see on Thursday. Good luck everyone!

the 2025 access denied is on the decision page and the to do items are on the financial aid application page.

I emailed them and they said:

Processing is the status that you want your documentation to be in, this means we have everything we need and your file is under review. The Financial Aid award will follow shortly after the admission’s decision.

No idea what all this means. We will know on Thursday.

I guess. and then incase of no admission they will stop processing? Who knows its all very complicated.

yes, we did apply for financial aid.

When you guys say the document is processing on your to do list does the status say “initiated” or “processing”. Mine says initiated and I received an idoc request a while ago and those documents have disappeared from my to-do list. The only one remaining is “parent tax return”. Other people I have seen that have applied for financial aid have nothing in their to-do list.

I think it depends on when they received the documents from IDOC. If they received them early on I assume they have already been processed and they disappear. Just my guess.

Could someone please explain what IDOC is and where was it generated from? We have not started the financial aid process since FAFSA isn’t open yet. Thank you!

for me it shows a to-do list

I am an immigrant from a very different system. I have no clue what the heck all these stuff work. However, I learned a lot of things on the way. ED can not wait for FAFSA. Thus the schools ask applicants to fill out something called CSS profile administered by college board (How to Complete the CSS Profile® – BigFuture | College Board ). CSS basically has key elements FAFSA has so that schools can determine financial needs without using FAFSA. I think it is too late to work on CSS now. After CSS profile is filled, one should receive a code/invite to register IDOC account, but I never received one probably due to the fact my kid won’t get a penny financial aid anyway. After that, some activities will show up there. Just wait for one more day to see the result and decide next move.

Yes I believe if you are under the threshold then you qualify for financial aid and they start requesting verification docs. But if you exceed it you don’t qualify for aid.

If you were planning to apply for financial aid and applied ED, you may have already missed the deadline. You need to file both the CSS and FAFSA. The CSS filing will trigger the IDOC if I remember correctly. From Cornell’s website:

Complete the 2024–25 CSS Profile as soon as possible (applications open October 1, 2023), but no later than…

And also, students in large public schools who don’t have equal access to resources like a school counselor to help them or educate them on the process and benefits of ED, they often times don’t know about it until it’s too late. In NYC there are schools where 400 students have 1 school counselor. In that situation, they also may not have had the guidance to re-take or even take SAT/ACT tests. Being able to have your ducks in a row prior to ED with the strongest app possible did take some resources, support, and education along the way. Kids aren’t born knowing how to apply to college. That in and of itself is a privilege. I hope they do away with “legacy” as well. I am tired of seeing kids with lower stats get in because of legacy or daddy or grand daddies money went to buy a building so the kids/grandkids all get in. That is a load of crap that needs to end.
