Cornell University Transfer Option

My D was offered TO for the College of Human Ecology at Cornell, looking to chat with others who are taking this path or have already done it successfully! She is thinking of attending our state flagship for a year to complete her prerequisite classes.

My son was offered TO for the ILR program. Still trying to decide whether to take that path (which he would likely just stay home and attend our local community college) or choose one of the other schools that accepted him…

We are in the same boat for CALS. Since it is totally non binding my D24 will likely enroll in a school she likes for now but still pursue the TO option. If she likes where she is she will just stay put. If not she’ll transfer to Cornell. It actually is a great option because she can test out a school she wasn’t sure about and still have an amazing alternative.

This is kind of where we’re leaning as well. My son doesn’t really want to stay home for another year and do community college, and he’d really like to be in D.C. (got 2 acceptances from colleges in that area), so he’ll probably go there and either do the four years or transfer to Cornell after a year depending on how things go.

My daughter also has two other options she really likes, but considering the state flagship because it would be an easier year and not as hard to get the required B+ and 3.5 she would need to transfer.

I messaged you.

Messaged you too since I didn’t see yours.

Hi! Is the Facebook page for Cornell 2028 TO legit? Not many people there.

My daughter is on it. There aren’t that many TOs given in the first place and I’m guessing people are still trying to figure out the next years plan so I’m not surprised usage is low at the moment.

My daughter is considering going to a school on the quarter system for her first year, our big question for Cornell is how that will align with the course requirements. For example, for HE she has to take lab bio and lab chem, but will she need a 3rd lab class to get enough actual credits because they convert quarters at .67 to semesters? Anyone else looking at this issue?

My two sons both received transfer options from ILR and accepted the option. My son graduated from ILR last year; my other son is a sophomore and will be a junior in September 2024. Cornell was their #1 choice; they did not mind going somewhere else first. They both went to Hofstra for their freshman year. It has worked out for both of them.

I’m surprised that the GPA for Human Ecology transfer is 3.5 and lower for the other schools, I’d think it would be consistent!

Anyone from CAS get a Transfer Option for Fall 2025? And these are guaranteed transfers, right?

No, they are not guaranteed.

Anyone’s student here still considering the TO option? D24 is still considering it but cannot fulfill one of the requirements since the class is full. Attempted to contact Cornell with zero response. Admissions seems very unresponsive.

She should continue to try to get a hold of Cornell admissions…transfer applicant questions go to transfer@cornell.edu. She should also try to call the main number 607.255.5241 and navigate to the transfer option peeps.

Has she identified any options to take the course somewhere else either during second semester, summer or Jan term if an option?

As the other poster said, please have your student reach out and keep trying until they get in touch with the transfer advisor. My understanding is that they will work with you.

What school at Cornell does your child have a TO?
