My son just got the TO for CAS. The letter just states that he’s getting the TO, but that CAS would reach out with more info. 1) When/where do we find out about fin aid?; 2) I’m not sure if CAS TO option requires an essay, but generally, what is the purpose of the essay? I.e., are they using it to evaluate admission? Or just something that needs to be done as part of the requirement to check the box? Is there a chance they wouldn’t accept him if they weren’t impressed with his essay? Thx to those who are in the know!
CAS does not require an essay for the TO applicant.
You will not find out about financial aid until your son is accepted next spring. You will need to submit a CSS again this winter.
The TO is not a guaranteed admission, but if a student has met the gpa requirements, it’s pretty certain that they will be admitted. There is an application process for the TO student. It’s a special link that allows the student to upload documents. There’s no fee or letters of recommendation. They do need to get their transcripts from both high school (to show that they graduated) and from the freshman year college.
Feel good that you ran it to ground. It really is unfortunate that many colleges had to drag it out with all the uncertainty around int’l students/visas…a very odd year, indeed. Best wishes for success wherever you go!
Did anyone actually get off the waitlist or was it all rejections and TOs?
Didn’t hear of anyone being accepted
My child was offered the TO for CAS. Currently she is getting all of her AP credits at the university she’s attending for '25 - Cornell would give her less. If she transfers to Cornell, how are those credits evaluated - in the same way if she was a freshman or having been “filtered” through another university would be passed through to Cornell? Gut feeling is that it will be the former, but hoping for the latter.
My daughter also received the email for TO for CAS; will be interested to see what the required coursework is for this year, and if changes need to be made to her existing schedule for the upcoming semester.
Congrats either way to all of the kids, and I hope they find success in whatever path they choose to follow!
I received the ILR TO letter today with the requirements. It went to my spam so make sure you check there.
