I was rejected as well. Why did they even keep us on that long :sob:

I was given a transfer option for College of Human Ecology but I am not fully sure what this means

Not sure on the checklist - ILR

Finally got the rejection, not surprised considering how ridiculously late it is. It’s truly awful how long they dragged this out.

This means that you can enter Cornell as a sophomore if you maintain a certain gpa and take some specific classes. You would submit a modified application next winter (no scores or recommendation letters). You will be assigned a transfer advisor who will let you know what the requirements are. It’s not a guaranteed admission, but it pretty much is if you meet the requirements.

I would strongly advise that you say YES now. It is not binding, and you are not obligated to apply in the winter. Even if you get accepted, you might still decide to stay at your freshman year school.

Finally, enjoy your freshman year, wherever you are headed. Even if you know you really want the transfer option, make friends and get engaged with your school. My daughter is about to start at Cornell as a sophomore in two weeks after getting a TO a year ago. Feel free to ask questions.

Got the TO as well for ILR

It means you pick another school for a year (it can even be a community college) and take the 6 classes they require (amongst others) and get no less than a B+, then you can turn in the transfer form in March and assuming you met the requirements, you can transfer in as a sophomore without reapplying. My daughter did last year and it was pretty easy…

What were the classes?

Any idea how many are offered?

It depends by school and major - she was Human Ecology (human development major) and had to take calculus, bio with a lab, chemistry with a lab, 2 writing courses, and psychology and had to get B+ or better in those classes, plus maintain an overall 3.5 (I think). I’ve heard some other schools have a lower grade requirement. In March she had to write a 600 word essay about what she had done during her freshman year and why she wanted to transfer, then turn that it with a grade report and a school report from her first year school.

CoE doesn’t offer transfer option but my letter says they hope I consider applying as a transfer after a year. Is this standard language?
