I don’t think there is any reason that gloves are better than your hands except in the very limited situation where u are going to only touch something once, have no ability to wash your hands and then dispose of the glove. I bring a glove when I walk to mail a letter. Open mailbox. Dispose of glove and then finish my hour walk. But at the grocery store when I’m touching things and then heading right home, not to drive again for a week the glove seems unnecessary. I do use Purell before I get in my car.
Anyone has cleaning person back in your home? After 3 months I am finally going to let my cleaning person back this week. She has been paid for doing nothing for over 3 months, why on earth do I feel so guilty asking her to do her job this week? I texted if she would be okay coming this week and she said “sure”. I texted back with a bucket of thanks and that I owe her one, she said I don’t owe her anything. We have been doing ok until the last few weeks everyone has been extremely busy with working and schooling. The house has been neglected.
We’ve had our cleaning person all along- every three weeks. Never stopped.
I told our cleaning woman she can come next week. Mostly I hate our vacuum and mopping floors. We’ll probably decamp for a few hours while she is there.
We have had our cleaning person but my daughter who is a nurse ( treating COVID patients) isn’t sure when she should have her cleaning person again …for the cleaning persons safety, not hers.
@mathmom where do you “decamp”? This is the least favorite part for me. Hubby can hide in his office , my kids go to the basement to play game or whatever. I have to find some place to work outside since the rest of the house will be cleaned. Although the patio is nice. I find working under the sun (even with shade) is a bit weird. Plus If the neighbor doing something loud outside and I am on the call, it will be hard to manage. Anyways, first world problem, I’ll deal.
I don’t have the source. But at one point I read some interesting articles about infections within apartment buildings on different floors. The apartment dwellers where in strict quarantine environments and still became infected.
The theories were around plumbing and ventilation systems.
I don’t recall exactly why.
Negative. Used the opportunity to clean ourselves, as I am a much better cleaner.
My housekeeper, who generally comes every week along with her sister-in-law, has been taking care of her parents (who moved her from Brazil two years ago). They are in FL. She texted and said she was coming back to MA in July. She cleans for 4 households in addition to mine. I can’t wait. I have a new appreciation for all the work that these two women do.
“ I don’t think there is any reason that gloves are better than your hands…”
Gloves can be sanitized with alcohol just like hands… except gloves do not chap, dry out, or develop blisters from frequent washing or sanitizing. One can even use bleach on some gloves…
China found that it travels in air conditioning and heating systems. They quarantine people coming in from other countries for 2 weeks on arrival in hotels that have the heating and air conditioning systems turn off to prevent spread. I really hope that isn’t a big source of spread.
I would love to have a cleaning person except that I hate the idea of someone else being in our house everywhere. I mean, I love the idea of everything being magically clean and me not having to do it but I have never had anyone clean ever because I don’t want other people in our house seeing everything. I would feel I had to clean before the cleaning person even came. I like privacy. But now with Covid, a much bigger no thank you to a cleaning person.
Meanwhile, New Zealand has gotten to zero active cases of COVID-19, and is lifting all domestic COVID-19-related restrictions.

That has never been confirmed. The high rises where it allegedly happened have elevators. A box with zero air circulation packed with people. Not a good thing.
Yes to the cleaning person. We paid for the first 9 (?) weeks and she didn’t come–she didn’t feel comfortable either. Then we all felt that it would be okay. She wore a mask the first few times but doesn’t now. We’re never in the same room. I have a regular appointment during the time she comes so much of the time I’m in the office. When I’m done, she’s done with my bedroom so I go there and I stay there as she finishes up. Dh is either on the deck or in the living room. It has been working well and dh and I are appreciative to not have to do the cleaning ourselves anymore.

cite that study??
Our cleaning lady came back last week for the first time. Best indication of decreased cases in my area are that hospitalizations have declined drastically and continue to go down. Although with the number of cars I see in store parking lots, I wonder how long the respite will last.
Here you go @Sybylla https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/26/7/20-0764_article. Although I’m pretty sure it’s been mentioned before.
I’m having my carpets cleaned Saturday. My husband can not have workers there during the week. Too many phone meetings so the cleaners agreed to come on Saturday. We will leave the house.

This is due to airflow from air conditioner in the room, similar type of thing could have happened if it was a fan blowing the droplets. It is why air salons are not using blow dryer now. This is very unlikely in a hotel/apartment setting where AC/heat is circulated through the building.
Now, that being said, I am considering to buy some Hepa filter material to cover my central heating vents and air duct in my bathrooms.

Anyone has an opinion about this?
I had no idea so many people had cleaning help!
I guess I should go back to cleaning my house. Apparently my covid break is over.
(No judgment on my part - just a morning reminder about how different we all are. Differences are good. They keep people employed and help the world keep functioning.)
