No, not really. My friends brother died (he was in his 40’s) in Rockland County, NY and no funeral was allowed at all. Not even just for his wife and children. They will have a memorial service when it’s allowable.
If you believe your rights have been abridged, hire a lawyer and sue your state and local governments.
I would remind you of the recent SCOTUS ruling regarding Church services in CA. The Church lost their argument,
Bcos there is as of yet zero scientific evidence that COVID has been spread in open air, so it’s still theoretically possible?
Pretty much agree unless and until which time we have scientific evidence of beach/open trail/campground transmission. Heck, I made a point about opening local beaches weeks ago.
We also have a 2nd amendment right to attend religious services as we see fit, yet the Public Health Officers were allowed to close churches. So, if they can infringe on the 2nd amendment – with good reason – why can’t they also infringe on the 1st for the same good (public health) reason?
Not quite. SCOTUS rejected the challenge as they recognized that the CA Gov had just backed off his closed church position and was now allowing places of worship to open with SD restrictions, similar to other types of longer-term gatherings (~60 minutes) that had restrictions.
In February there was a big open-air carnival in Gangelt, in Germany. It caused a huge outbreak. Almost 20,000 people tested positive and 446 people died.
Note, I specifically mentioned “scientific” evidence, not anecdotal report. But, I just googled the town and found this article (assuming that was the carnival that you were referencing):
I say this from the bottom of my heart. I implore you to think, really, really think about how you are saying things. Really think about the events of the last week and how your words would look to the public.

I do understand that people are upset. You aren’t doing things and it looks like others are. Don’t be fooled. You are doing the right thing. Stay the course. Stay home, wash your hands and wear your masks.
China does quarantine people and in the case of a vlogger I follow, I watched him arrive in China to an airport staff in full protective gear and get taken to a quarantine hotel where there was no heat in his room and no air conditioning in his wife and daughter’s room. He was on the non-sunny side of the building and so was cold and she was on the sunny side and so felt hot. My husband shared with me various news stories showing that the Chinese do not have heat or air conditioning running in their quarantine hotels. I personally think it is a mistake to dismiss all reports out of China, especially those coming from medical personel and researchers there. I can’t think of anything I heard out of China that was not true regarding things like this (the virus can spread asymptomatically, the virus can spread via the air and much more) than turned out to be fabricated. Their case numbers and total deaths–I suspect those are far greater than reported, but this type of thing, I believe especially because I have seen visual proof that they are indeed going to the trouble of turning off heating and air conditioning in quarantine hotels. I don’t think they would do that for no reason. My husband has family and friends who are doctors in China. Not all information from people in China is false.
The study I read from China, if I remember correctly, said that they found actual virus in the vents of a heating system.
This was a study in Singapore published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. It found that an infected person’s room had virus all over including in the air outlet fans.
‘…"swabs taken from the air exhaust outlets tested positive, suggesting that small virus-laden droplets may be displaced by airflows and deposited on equipment such as vents…It’s not clear from this study whether the viruses found in the air vents were viable and could have infected another person, as they didn’t test it in the lab.’
Some thing the virus might have spread via air systems in the Diamond Princess.
'Another expert told The Telegraph if SARS-CoV-2 is as small as the SARS virus which it’s related to, it’s far too small to be captured by cruise ship and building air filtration systems. ’
And yet many here have lambasted the peaceful protesters in Michigan that were at the state house exercising their first and second amendment rights. Good for the goose, good for the gander.
That’s actually something different. the one I remember found the virus in the vents or ducts of a heating system that circulated air around a building.
“In rejecting that challenge, Roberts wrote that the Constitution generally grants broad leeway to state leaders in circumstances of medical uncertainty. In particular, the chief justice found that Newsom’s order was consistent in limiting not just religious services, but also various kinds of activities “where large groups of people gather in close proximity for extended periods of time.”
“The notion that it is ‘indisputably clear’ that the Government’s limitations are unconstitutional seems quite improbable,” wrote Roberts.
None of the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights are absolute - they can be moderated for legitimate government reasons. What the Constitutional “right” means is that the government needs a strong and compelling reason to restrict or limit the right. Matters of health & safety fall into that category – that is, if a government shuts down or limits the size of church services in the middle of a pandemic – that is the sort of compelling governmental (societal) interest that is likely going to withstand strict scrutiny.
