I have been a bit more vigilant about hand washing but other then that not much else. H and I restocked our earthquake kit, but we do that every year anyway. H and I are extra careful with hand washing now and if we feel sick we go to our doctors. We don’t have any travel planned for a while, so that’s good. I don’t feel the need to panic and go into survivalist mode: seems like an overreaction!
Essentially yes, but honestly it is on the honor system. We have the luxury that almost 100% of the employees are able to work from home so the self quarantine is really just work remote.
My company is truly global and has tried to streamline policies around this worldwide so in a sense it makes sense. We have the same message for our Hong Kong office and Omaha office and everywhere in between. We are trying to send the same client message in all situations because each meeting may be a different cross functional group from anywhere. It makes no sense to tell one client we can be at a meeting and another across the street we can not simply because of the make-up of the team.
Hand towels in our bathrooms…they have been washed daily…and DH and I do not share one. Other than that…nothing special. Not sure why I think the hand towel washing is going to help since we live in the same rooms all the time…but it seemed right.
Nothing special. I do wash hands frequently. Noticed at the store just now that the antibacterial wipes and regular tissues were in short supply/empty shelves. I use a wipe on cart handles, but other than that I don’t use antibacterial cleaners.
I bought a 12pack of Corona beer.
My city said two local people who may have been exposed during a recent business trip are self-quarantining to be extra cautious.
Today I went for a routine doctor follow up visit after labs. The only real change I noticed is that they used to have a blood pressure/temperature check chair in a common area; now they do it in the exam room. They’ve also switched to a non-touch forehead thermometer.
I kidded to the nurse that I was tempted to grab a few gloves from the wall supply in the exam room. She said to go ahead but not to take any masks ;).
My doctor was wearing a mask but she’s going on maternity leave next week and has worn it throughout her pregnancy. However, she usually does a quick physical check - throat, lungs, etc. - but today just sat and talked with me.
Nothing different at the polling place (we were the only voters there) but they did have a Purell pump on one table. We used it when we left.
We’ve been back home for 24 hours now and my trip to the grocery store plus catching up with neighbors, etc, hasn’t revealed any noticeable changes locally.
Tomorrow I return to school, but seeing the notes for March’s faculty meeting doesn’t even have a note listed about it or any “what ifs,” etc.
So didn’t shake anyone’s hands at work and all the patients got it. ?. Have Purell in the car and I am going to a wine tasting fundraiser tonight but will carry Purell with me.
But when I got home my dog gave me a kiss right on the lips
…?.
I hope I survive to make it to the wine tasting… Lol
My D who lives in Solano county where the first Ca patient of community origin was diagnosed called this morning. She said she is seeing more people in masks and was asking if she should be stocking up. She went to acupuncture yesterday and the acupuncturist was wearing a mask. My D said that the office was pretty quiet and that they are reducing hours for March. My D was concerned that people aren’t making appointments because the Dr is Asian.
At my exercise class today there were less people. The teacher said she had been at Costco Sunday and they were out of toilet paper, paper towels and bottled water. She joked that she wasn’t sure about the water. Were people afraid someone with Coronavirus was going to swim in our local lake which is our water supply. She suggested people bring bleach wipes to wipe down equipment and to bring your own mat. Learned that the bottles all around the gym just have water and dish soap in them.searched for
My hand sanitizers and see they expired in 2008. Don’t know if they are still good.
Going to physical therapy now and will see if they have any signs or change of procedure
My kid works in a Seattle area ED and there is way more masking, gowning, gloving to protect the providers, but no one seems stressed or overly worried about it all.
We are a Fortune 400 company and have now stopped international travel completely and asking that careful consideration be given as to necessity of any domestic travel and conferences. Basically, you can go if you want to. If you have symptoms or are exposed, stay home. We have one employee (not at corporate office) who was exposed on a group tour to Italy and has no symptoms, but is on a 14 day watch list. We are keeping her off work until the end of the 14 days. Of course, we can’t control personal travel and no one here seems too wrapped around the axle about this yet. Also, no hand shaking.
I’m in S FL. I left my puppy at home to run to,Costco. They were already out of wipes, baby wipes, Lysol spray, tissue paper, etc. I was so disappointed whether the virus is spreading or not, the panic is setting in.
Um… exactly how many rolls of toilet paper are people buying?
Costco sells them in 24-packs.
Woah. That’s a lotta poo!
Just got my refund “check” to cash at Costco in my credit card bill. Probably not the best time to plan to go on and cash it.
Going to cash that check tonight! Hopefully, the fresh food has not been hoarded by the masses here over the weekend!
In FL - I went to Costco yesterday and you would have thought we were under a hurricane warning. Costco posted limits on water, clorox and a few other things. I think the “5 cases per customer” sign on water actually caused people to take the full limit. There was almost none left at 1pm and I was very surprised by how many carts were stacked with 5 waters. And I also saw a number of people with cases and cases of Udon soup. Paper towels were flying out of the place.
There were no disinfecting wipes or Purell at all. And they were totally out of the packaged grilled chicken I had on my list. Not sure if that is panic related or just the result of a busy weekend.
I was able to find a package of disinfecting wipes at Target today. And I bought anti-bacterial soap pumps which I generally don’t use. Also bought a big bottle of lotion because my hands are so dry from all this hand washing!
I don’t get the water hoarding. This isn’t an earthquake; I don’t think that the water, or electricity for that matter is going to shut down.
@MomofWildChild, so sorry to read about the tornado in Nashville! Everything ok in your neck of the woods??
Thanks @Nrdsb4 . We are south of town so just had bad storms. My daughter and her fiancé were close to the path and I couldn’t reach them. Her church (she’s rector) was almost exactly in the path. They wound up beingOK with just a huge tree down at the church. They slept through the tornado. I was so relieved to finally reach them. It’s all terrible.
Glad to hear, @MomofWildChild .
Sorry for the off topic post. Didn’t know where to ask the question other than starting a new thread.
