Nowhere near 2 weeks. We were in a WA Costco on March 3, two days after the panic hit. It was not crowded at all. There was plenty of foods and other goods on shelves. Sans the infamous TP, of course.
My freezer and pantry look like Holiday Feast prep, too. I thought about what would make voluntary isolation as pleasurable as possible. My husband commented we have the best wine we’ve ever purchased.
Of course, again, some can’t afford two weeks of inexpensive staples. we are so fortunate. I’m not going to feel sorry for myself about having to stay home. We really do have everything to be extremely comfortable.
Also, I’m 64. If I get sick and the hospitals are busy, I’m just staying put. I am going over in my mind who in our local rural friends group might share narcotics they have on hand. I really don’t like pain. Not too worried about death.
@BunsenBurner reportedly the Aurora Village Costco (my local) is admitting only 250 people at a time, and the line to get in is really, really long - around to the Bank of America for locals. The Thriftway near my house is fairly well supplied with essentials. People seem to forget about the non-chain places.
The county library system shut down yesterday with just a few hours notice. I made it there & added to my stack. The place was a madhouse. I have a lot of books at home & at our other place as well as e-books on overdrive. Reading selection is covered.
Our large wine fridge and rack are filled and the wineries we belong to are offering free shipping or they’ll bring the selections out to our car.
DH and I went to early voting today. They have shared clipboards with attached pens (I used my own pen), I tried to vote on the new touchscreen through my sleeve (didn’t work) and there was NO sanitizer anywhere!!! ?
DH went to the grocery stores…Aldi and BJs. He was able to get everything on his list…except bleach. He wasn’t even looking for hand sanitizer! Why bother! We have plenty of soap.
We could stay at this house for weeks…and not have issues eating or anything else.
@zeebamom - that is likely the morning run on TP. The guys working at the Snohomish/Woodinville Costco told us they get shipments of TP etc. every morning, and the stuff sells out like in 20 minutes.
IMO, Seattle city area is lagging behind the Eastside and Northend.
I’m sure the food shopping frenzy will calm down once the mad dash to stock up is over.
I’d say about a week more and then people will mostly be going out to get what they’ve run out of.
My H is, for all intents and purposes, quarantined in the State Capitol, between Covid19 and budget negotiations. So, it’s only me eating and it would take a few months to go through everything.

??? good job. I have plenty of reading material here, and our Kindles are loaded.
For those of you needing reading material, many independent bookstores are shut down and this will be a huge financial hit. You may be able to order books online thru your bookstore, if they use bookshop.org. And please consider using LibroFM for audio books, as your local bookstore benefits from that too!
DH went to our local Wegmans (Maryland) today and had no problems getting what we wanted. I thought that since the school system announced the shut down Thursday, the stores might be wild now.
Got fresh staples and meat – no worries.
I love Giannis: https://urbanmilwaukee.com/2020/03/13/giannis-pledges-100000-for-fiserv-workers/. He has pledged $100,000 to help workers at Fiserv Forum, where the Bucks play when competing at home (Milwaukee).
Thanks for the laugh, that was funny ???
Mr just got back from picking up my online order from Kroger.
Of the 25 things I ordered (almost all food), they had like 8 things. I’m so freaking annoyed.
What they did have: pico de Gallo, cheese, blueberry pop tarts, milk, bread, sour cream and onion chip dip. They had none of my actually healthy food. Just my snack food.
Looks like we’re eating nachos for a while…

Also, Mr R’s coworker was told to prepare for a shutdown of their work.
@romanigypsyeyes , it looks as though you and Mr. are going to be contestants on “Chopped.”
I thought you were ordering through Amazon, or has it just not gotten there yet?
Just got an email from my market. They are closing all stores between 1am-6am to clean/sanitize and restock. Good idea, imo.
Their pickup service has obviously been going crazy, so they asked customers not to be upset if they cannot get their preferred pick up time.
@emilybee I forgot that it was Whole Foods which is WAY more expensive.
I’m considering it now though. Grumble grumble.
So glad it’s the weekend. Husband ran out to the dump. I’m leaving the stores to people who don’t have the weekday flexibility I do. One less vector out there, and less exposure for me.
Both our out of state adult city kids got stock-up shops done and are being very conscientious about staying home. They’ve been spending more time together chatting/ game playing / over the phone (over 1,000 miles away from each other; I just mean they’ve stepped up their internet contact).
I just built a plain beef and onion stew in my dutch oven. Should last us a week.
Am working to fend off a “not quite good enough” vibe. It’s so easy to think of something I’ve forgotten to take care of, line up, suggest, and I’m trying not to spiral about all that. It’s probably time to go look at cat memes.
DS and I went to the local toy store this morning and picked up four new big puzzles, then hit the library (which will be closing) to stock up on books. Got a movie and season 3 of Schitt’s Creek. I’m awaiting word from my employer about wfh; the kids and dh will be working and schooling at home indefinitely starting Monday.
