On Friday, Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers ordered that all Wisconsin K-12 schools close by Wednesday, Mar. 18, at the latest. A few minutes ago, it was announced that most, if not all, Dane County schools will be closing effective immediately. Expected soon: an announcement that gatherings of 50 or more people will be banned in Dane County.
I am worried about this, also.
Thanks, I couldn’t have guessed such an app existed. I chose a coffee shop with “the scholarly sounds of a university campus”.
Grown S who lives across the country just told us he treated himself by buying a bunch of t-shirts for bands who have had to cancel their tours, or at least their dates in his city - so it actually helps them, too.
Thank you very much @romanigypsyeyes, it has not been made public unless it’s been in the last hour or so.
Everyone here is acting like nothing is wrong. I got take out last night and the restaurant was packed.
We are staying in, I went for a walk outside and kept my distance.
My sister just texted me that I should be fine where I am, you know in the middle of nowhere according to her.
Ugh, feeling very frustrated
Making a separate post.
Went for a walk and someone had covered their mailbox with plastic. Had a sign, said QUARANTINED COSPUD-19 2020. With a white ball with golf tees.
Ran into another neighbor who asked me about it and mentioned that it said COSPUD instead of COVID. I asked if he thought it was real or a joke. If it wasn’t, it was really not funny and I was not happy. The person I talked to is on the HOA board.
About a half hour later, I walked back to the mailbox because I was going to take a picture and report it. Thankfully someone took the plastic and sign down.
What aren’t people getting? It’s not funny. I live in a neighborhood of retirees.
After observing what has been going on at airports, I guess I’m just as glad my son is staying in Michigan, or at least I’m trying to convince myself I’m just as glad. Although I guess the worst were in the international terminals and he wouldn’t have been there. But still, as far as I know, nobody’s got covid in his apartment (where he lives alone).
I am very thankful that our kiddos all have their own places.
I’m curious about all of the Florida, Texas, Vegas, California Mexico etc spring break college trips planned by college kids. think they’ll still happen?
Saturday I was at Mall of America in Minneapolis (this was planned months ago)- it was super crowded. And a friend says Costco in my town - it’s a zoo! lines and lines. I can’t wrap my head around it all. No social distancing at those two places; so I’m curious about college spring breaks.
I’m starting to dread the next few weeks of no school for my kids. Making a list of house projects for the kids. . .
A neighbor is scheduled to leave on a family spring trip to Mexico next week. I’m not so sure its a good idea especially if Mexico decides to close THEIR border to Americans.
I just called my kid to check in. He was baking. He said nothing fun to eat left in stores so he bought oatmeal and is making cookies.
His whole company is working from home and he starts his new position tomorrow. Says it should be interesting.
I asked him why young people his age (20’s) are going still going to bars, etc and he said, “because they are stupid, mom.”
Is she prepared to hunker down with the family and not leave, or at least isolate herself outside work hours? I don’t think people will want caregivers coming in and out (and then potentially mixing with others) as the rate of infection rises.
My favorite fact from this whole thread is that @emilybee has a mom that’s 90 years old with boyfriend who’s 15 years younger than she is and who calls her the “energizer bunny.” This is my new role model for healthy aging.
OH Governor is shutting down all DINE-IN bars and restaurants.
Nashville made the news today for all the crowds in the honky tonks last night. The mayor is having an emergency meeting this afternoon and will order them all closed and restaurants have to go to 50% capacity with spaced seating.
The people I know who had planned Mexico spring breaks have canceled. Mexico is sketchy anyway, in my opinion. People are still driving to the Alabama and panhandle of Florida coast.
My S lives in London…not good there either and I wish he were closer. He wishes he was home, too. BTW he has asthma.

I guess I am in the minority but I am just not too worried about all this. We are in our early 50s, good health, never get the flu, are not too social anyway…
I’m playing the percentages here.
And he’s the unhealthy one. Has Celiac disease which went undiagnosed for years because he’s 76 and they didn’t really diagnose that when he was young.
He smokes medical marijuana so when he is over my moms he bought her an air purifier so the smell/smoke doesn’t become overwhelming,
One day when I was visiting and he was coming over she said she hoped I didn’t mind that he would be smoking pot. lOL!
I am isolating so completely that when I went out for a walk, I crossed the street if I saw anyone coming my way.
But I saw realtors still holding open houses. I understand wanting to sell your home, but the sanitizing that would have to be done after strangers have touched countertops, etc.!
