@oldmom4896 I also try to give my cup away when getting the hotdog, but I have had times people look at me funny and wonder why I am offering then a cup! Or, everyone else is getting a hotdog, so doesn’t need another drink.
Next time we do Costco (or Sam’s) hot dog, I will see if there is a water dispenser. Usually I do a diet coke/pepsi, a rare treat. But last time I just skipped drink.
Hmm. I’m wondering when people stopped drinking pop/soda. I stopped when I got pregnant with my first child. When I was done nursing my kids , its appeal was gone. Though I think I’d still enjoy a coke from a glass bottle like the good old days…lol.
My kids don’t drink colas but do drink sparkling waters. Are they considered pop/soda?
And I just realized I do drink something with fizz. On our recent trip to Hawaii I found myself enjoying an occasional mocktail that was some sort of juice combination (like passion fruit/guava) with ginger beer. It was a nice departure from straight ice water at restaurants.
My kids drink what they call “bubble water”
I buy “bubbly water” at Sam’s in bulk. It’s my alcohol.
Neither of my kids drink soda; D and SIL drink “fizzy water”, usually La Croix. My S and DIL drink water, as do I.
I confess I still sometimes drink Diet Coke. DH drinks it more than I do, but we have it at home. When we are out its water, tea or wine
At the Costco in Brooklyn, water in a plastic bottle is $.25.
For those interested in joining Sam’s for the first time, or haven’t had a membership in 6 months, here is a $14 deal.
I know this is a digression but I tried that Subway churro once and it was not so good.
The only thing I sorta miss from Samsclub were their filled and personally decorated sheet cakes. You could give them a photograph to copy onto the icing. Costco doesn’t do that.
Thanks for the link. We’ve been long time Sam’s members. The close location is really handy, makes an easy gas stop (though we use a bit less no longer working). And they have better selection here on snack items small enough for church coffee hour teats. Tried Costco on a promotion deal last year… then immediately turned off autorenew. Costco is on the other side of town, not as handy - maybe I will let it lapse an sign up on a future deal.
Jewel grocery used to do that in Chicago. I’m pretty sure I got such a cake for son’s 18th birthday when the math team threw him a surprise party.
Our Walmart did photo cakes for our graduation parties. (So funny- guests ate around the edges for a long time, did not want to cut into the photo section). Now that was before Sam’s came to town, so maybe different now.
I stopped after passing my 2nd kidney stone. My doctor said it may be the culprit. I rarely drink pop anymore. Usually it’s when we’re driving on a trip and stop at a fastfood restaurant maybe twice a year. I haven’t passed a kidney stone in 23 years!
I drink soda once in a while. I’ve never had a kidney stone. H drinks soda slightly more often and has also never had a kidney stone.
Once in awhile probably not going to result in a kidney stone.
Ask anyone who HAS had a kidney stone and if the doc says “avoid soda” (which is often the recommendation) there is a good chance they are going to avoid it. So I wouldn’t doubt anyone here if you haven’t been in their shoes!
I was drinking a fair amount of soda at the time. Maybe a 2 liter bottle a week. I missed it at first. The eliminating kidney stones was the reason but there are other benefits too such as much less sugar or possibly worse the substitutes. For me that was something extra not a reason to quit though.
I don’t know about Sam’s but Costco SHINES this time of year for outdoor yard/gardening supplies. Huge bags of organic potting soil for $8.99, grass seed, weed spray, planters, PLANTS GALORE (I’ll push you over to get my hands on their enormous ferns!), outdoor lighting, toys, pool stuff - I have to sometimes tie my hands behind my back to not get everything!
Hoping to snag my ferns soon and a few knock out/shrub rose bushes!
Yes to that! We also scored a pallet of slate paving stones! Half of what we would’ve paid at a local stone yard, and 1/10th of the distance to drive them home. 10 bags of Costco dirt are sitting in the yard, waiting to fill the planters.
