Costco or Sam's Club

Not sure if the amount was right if not, but they had that “soup” in them. Very moist.

I wish I had more room in my landlord freezer. If anyone in the NYC area wants to share, please let me know! I really love soup dumplings, and although the 1.45-min-in-the-microwave Trader Joe version is ok, I’d really love to have the real deal tucked away.

Yes, to me, as long as you don’t accidentally prick the wrapper and let the juices escape, perfect amount of broth in each dumpling.

I’m trying to figure out which pumpkin pie is better between Costco and Sam’s club.

For $5.99, leave the decision a mystery and buy both.

Don’t know if this belongs here, but will start here.
Can anyone think of stuff at Costco you can buy that stores easily for multiple lunches that may not be sequential?
For example, you could do the pack of 2 bag salads and eat Mon/Weds.
Possibly the Indian entrees they sometimes have, that come in 2 bags (but a bag may be too much for one person to eat for lunch).
I can’t think of a lot of options that would work - ideas? (It’s for my son, not me, so think late 20s male).

The other day I bought soup dumplings that came in the same plastic tray as the ones at Trader Joe’s with six dumplings to be heated for 2 min in the microwave. I think there were six trays in the box. Tasted the same as TJs and came with six sauce packets.

I really like the Ajinomoto frozen gyoza. Makes great and quick (10-15 min cook time) lunch. No special cooking skills required!

How about frozen items? Kevin’s chicken, in the refrigerated section, is in two bags. How about Kirkland soup and a box of crackers? We also buy the veggie and dip platters and eat them for lunch.

The Starkist/Bumblebee seasoned tuna packs would work for a sandwich. He could use tomato paste in a tube if he likes the tuna-tomato flavor combo.

The pho bowls that are in the non-refrigerated aisles. Also the “heat in 90 seconds” lentil pouches (with other stuff in the pouch)

The individual packs of like mini charcuterie? With a can of soup

I’m assuming he doesn’t want to haul stuff home and/or can’t leave stuff at work??

My son went into Costco to check options for lunch. Then he sent his wife a message saying “this place is magical”
He was most excited by the street taco options, the chicken salad, the hummus, and the other salads they had.

I tried a new food product from Costco that, well, I didn’t really care for! Wondering if others have bought it and how did you prepare it.

It was a bag of frozen root vegetables. Which should be right up my alley. I did them in the air fryer which was the recommended method. I didn’t add any oil - the veggies looked like they had a little frozen coating on them so I thought that was probably a fat. They recommended 10 mins cook time, I did 12 or 13 because they didn’t appear done. Still were hard and tough! Not very flavorful! Not sure what to do with the rest of this giant bag now! A soup maybe???

Just figured I’d let you guys know my son is still heading to Costco for lunch once a week (he gets enough for 2 meals). I get pics of his purchases - mostly pre-cooked/pre-made stuff. He’s riding his bike at least some days (it’s a 20ish mile ride each way), so I guess he doesn’t want to take his lunch. I know he liked the pre-made chicken salad, and butter chicken was just OK.

Well, I had both pumpkin pies from Costco and Sam’s Club. Here is my completely subjective opinion.

Costco’s pie has a more “home made” texture. It has more pumpkin in it. It’s also a tad more grainy and it tends to fall apart. But the pie is absolutely rich and delicious.

Sam’s pumpkin pie has slightly less pumpkin but a bit more custard. They probably put some artificial stuff in it because it holds it’s shape perfectly. The texture is much more creamy than Costco.

The verdict. COSTCO. It’s not even close. It looks, smells, and tastes like grandma’s home made pumpkin pie.

We bought this brand of veggies but it was different vegetables - broccoli, carrots etc. I wouldn’t make them at home, but we camp a lot and they were perfect for quick meals - over pasta or sweet potatoes is usually what we do. I agree they take way longer to cook than packaging suggests. I’m going to read the ingredients to see what the seasoning is.
