Could I get in trouble for this?

I’m taking Biology Honors next year, and science isn’t my best subject (plus I got a teacher who apparently doesn’t teach well), thus meaning I want to look over the material during the summer to get a head start. I found the password and username to the online biology textbook on a different teacher’s (teaches at my school, though). Could I get in trouble for accessing the textbook online since I haven’t received the textbook/online information personally?

I don’t think so; it’s not cheating or anything, and if you got the password from another teacher, that looks like there are no rules that prohibit people from looking at textbooks during the summer.

Does your school have a IT policy about accessing other people’s private info, accts, passwords?

Yes you can get into trouble doing that. You can buy the textbook from the publisher and with that, you’d get an access code. But using someone else’s is essentially stealing.

*unless it was given to you (in which case it’s a gift).
It’s okay to read the textbook but using the password depends on having permission to

Your sentence is incomplete. On a different teacher’s what? Desk? Computer screen? Notebook? Syllabus?

Oops sorry…didn’t even notice @GMTplus7 “website.”

@lostaccount @MYOS1634 Does it matter if the username and password are supposed to be accessible to all biology students?

If the password is supposed to be accessible to all students, then you’re okay. It’s a contract your school entered with the company that all students who take the class have access to the website and the school pays for all students. So, you’re good.
