Hi! I was looking at colleges, specifically ones with a good business department, and I saw the University of Virginia on a list. After some further research about it, I saw that it was a really good college and I am very interested in it! So I am wondering if you guys think I have a good chance of getting in?

So do you think I have a good shot based on these classes?
It is harder getting in from OOS, but you certainly could have a chance, the way you’re going. As only about 25% get in from OOS, it’s hard to say yet if you have a “good chance.”
UVA looks the most at grades and at having a rigorous, well-rounded group of courses. Your grades seem very good, and your choices in English, soc sci, and language are perfectly fine for any competitive school like UVA. But If you only take three years of science, with no APs, and you don’t study any calculus in high school, some schools might think you’re not very strong in those areas. If you want to apply to very competitive schools like UVA, you should probably talk with your counselor and parents to see if you could get a little more rigorous in your math and science courses.
Also, math is important for business, and it’s harder to get into some business programs without a good math background.
Yeah I’m terrible at science, that’s why I’m not taking a foruth year. If I were to take a fourth year science course it wouldn’t be a AP one, it would most likely be a class like environemntal science, which isn’t a very good class.
The way my school is set up is that we take algebra 1 then geometry then algerbra 2 then pre-calc. Only the people pretty good at math takes ap calc courses,I’m not to good haha. I will take pre calc in senior year though.
I believe that UVA will definitely look at your transcript to see if you have taken the most rigourous courses available to you. In otherwords, Honors or AP sciences and the same with math. If your high school offers them, they will want to see that you took them (or some of them) and challenged yourself. I don’t see any Honors or AP science classes in your schedule and the same for math. It is much more than about GPA. They will also look at you as compared to your peers that are applying to UVA in terms of rigourous schedule and classes taken (I believe that is what I have heard). Good luck!
Definitely consider Michigan as well. It’s on the same level as UVA, but it will be much easier for you to get in since you are in state. As far as giving you chances, it’s very difficult, if not impossible, without information about test scores and extracurriculars. Based on your grades and classes, you look like a competitive applicant, but acceptance to a school like UVA is about much more than just grades. Good luck, I’m sure you’ll have a good chance considering you are thinking about it this early!
